✉️📫 Today at the #GWAConference2024, industry experts gathered for an important fireside chat on CMRA compliance, featuring: - Cid Rhomberg, CEO of brick house blue - Ryan Harris, Franchise Owner of Six Intelligent Office Locations - Carl Swanson, Postal Inspector and Program Manager, US Postal Inspection Service Key Takeaways: ▪️Understanding the New Postal Regulations: The session highlighted the urgent need to address fraud in the postal system, particularly in light of the $6-9 billion in losses from CMRAs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Carl Swanson, a seasoned fraud prevention expert and former Secret Service agent, explained the reasons behind these new regulations and how they aim to safeguard the postal ecosystem. ▪️Compliance Insights: -There are an estimated 15,000 CMRAs in the U.S. that must comply with the new regulations. - Businesses have 90 days to achieve compliance once they begin the process. The aim is to support operators in becoming compliant, not to shut them down, with a 30-day notice given before any action is taken. - A new version of Form 1583a is now available, and while it is not immediately mandatory, operators are encouraged to switch to it as soon as feasible. ▪️Guidance for Operators Using Aggregators: For those using aggregators, the aggregator is recognized as the client and CMRA by the postal service. ▪️Addressing Common Challenges: - Postal Management: Many operators feel uncertain about compliance steps; Carl provided practical advice on navigating these changes. - API Release: Updates on the API release are still pending. - Fraud Detection: Operators can report fraud through the CRD without increasing their chances of an audit. ▪️Future Support and Resources: - The USPS plans to introduce a security group for audits and improve help desk services to offer more on-demand support. Taking proactive steps toward compliance will benefit operators, ensuring that we can all work together to maintain a secure postal system while fostering growth and success. Our Epcon Franchising annual two-day team retreat is in the books! The absolute best part of my role is supporting our internal team of professionals who recruit, onboard and coach our franchise builders and their teams. This week we checked a lot of meaningful boxes as a team! ✅ Volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, turning sleeping rooms and cheering up the lunch room with a Root Beer Float extravaganza ✅ A team pickleball outing and lesson from Pickle & Chill ✅ A full day of learning at Brick House Blue to further strengthen our team. We learned about one another's enneagram profiles, and worked through a ton of content from James Clear's book Atomic Habits. Our focused habit game will be off the charts as we prepare to head into 2025! We even carved out time for some more creative team collaborations! 🎨🖌️ When we have the right people in the right roles and everyone genuinely enjoys working together, we're onto something good! This team is the epitome of strength, engagement and performance. 🤩👏
