The process of developing the virtues is life-long and demanding, but also joyful because virtues make us freer and happier. You experience this when you visit our Brilla schools- lively chatter, laughter, and smiles fill our halls. A comment by one of our parents perhaps says it best: “Aquí hay la caridad” (Here there is loving care).

Brilla staff are talented educators who bring a wide range of skills, experiences and backgrounds. More than half our staff come from the community where we serve. Some of our staff find their way to Brilla because they are attracted to our intentionally joyful culture and others because they want to receive intensive development and coaching. We are united by a common thread: a commitment to partnering with families in Bronx to provide an academically-excellent, character-rich education.

Education is an introduction to love and with love comes joy. A school is not the only place where education occurs; it is not even the primary place. Families are the primary educators because they are the first ones to introduce a child to love. Our role, then, as school-based educators is to partner with parents and to support them in their task of educating their children. When a family enrolls their child in a Brilla school, they enter into a sacred trust with us.
