Earlier this month our Executive Director Shari Suchoff and Manager of Community Engagement Kristian Balgobin, MSPH attended the Healthcare Anchor Network Annual Convening! Over three days in Saint Louis, they attended sessions focused on supplier diversity, housing equity, and supporting community engagement alongside other organizations dedicated to bridging the gap between healthcare institutions and the communities they serve. They were joined by Melissa Kelly, Vice President of Supply Chain and Purchasing and Kamila Skubal, Business Manager of Facilities Operations and Support Services at Maimonides Medical Center, a key anchor institution and supplier diversity partner in Brooklyn.

We're excited to share the launch of the Brooklyn Health Enterprise Small Business Accelerator! Developed in partnership with Hunter College and Eleven3seven5, the accelerator is part of BCC's ongoing effort support small businesses and facilitate local, diverse procurement opportunities with major institutions like hospitals and universities.    The small business accelerator kicked off this week and will run through January 2025. This National Community Health Worker (CHW) Awareness Week, we’re proud to recognize the graduates of BCC’s first community health worker training cohort! These certified community health workers are improving Brooklynites’ overall wellbeing by serving as a liaison between health and social care services and the community. Many thanks to Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and Kingsborough Community College for their partnership and to Affinity Legacy for the grant that supported the training program. Congratulations again to our recent graduates, and thank you to all of the CHWs out there helping their communities access essential services! #communityhealthworker
