Proud to partner with Fulton County Government and #ArcherWestern on the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility. This critical #infrastructure helps keep the community thriving through advanced #wastewater treatment. Learn more about this project: https://lnkd.in/gAAkBwBS The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western
Thrilled to report the expansion of the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility has achieved its latest significant milestone, putting online 32 MGD of advanced wastewater treatment! This includes the full liquids process with a new Headworks, inclusive of 6mm Coarse Screening and Grit Removal, Primary Clarification, Fine Screening at 2mm, Biological Nutrient Removal with Large Bubble Mixing and Fine Bubble Diffusion, and a Membrane Bioreactor treatment process. The MBR technology is one of the most advanced treatment technologies in wastewater treatment. The system combines biological treatment/nutrient removal with ultrafiltration membranes that filter out particles greater than 0.04 µm (about one millionth of an inch) in diameter. The overall project, being delivered by #ArcherWestern and Brown and Caldwell, expands the Big Creek WRF from 24 MGD to 32 MGD, and is Fulton County's largest single capital improvement project to date. Using the progressive design-build delivery method, this milestone was achieved through collaboration, trust, and a project-first mentality from all project stakeholders.

Giving back is a passion at BC. We support our employees as they drive positive change for communities by partnering with organizations like Engineers Without Borders. Meet three inspiring leaders who strive to make an impact. https://ow.ly/2rzN50T1CGn Rwanda & Gambia For nearly a decade, Process Mechanical Engineer Katie Byrnes, PE, has worked on water storage, supply, and access projects in Rwanda and Gambia to eliminate the hours-long daily walks for water, which often falls on women and children. Katie began with EWB-Miami University Chapter as a student mentor, providing technical support. “Having access to an engineering education has given me skills that can change lives for the better. My time volunteering with EWB has allowed me to build relationships with people from completely different backgrounds and lives, helping the world to feel more connected and a lot smaller in the best way possible.” Peru Like Katie, Environmental Engineer Zach Dobroth’s volunteer work with EWB goes back to 2014. His project is in the remote Amazon basin community of Villa America , Peru. Although there are nearby water sources, contamination issues often left the local Yanesha tribe ill. Through his leadership roles on EWB Treasure Valley Professional Chapter, Zach has been able to support sending a team to work on an enclosed groundwater well and pump, solar panel array and electrical building, and storage tanks, pipelines, and taps. “The EWB model feels like a win for everyone. The communities get engineering solutions that make their lives better of course, but the process also develops leaders and problem-solvers.” Bolivia, Miramar & Nepal Environmental Engineer Itzé (Ally) Kenney, E.I., began her volunteer journey as a student with the EWB-University of South Florida Student Chapter, traveling to Bolivia’s Teneria Manzanani in 2018 to help prepare the farming community for essential sanitation facilities. Last year, Ally went to Miramar in the Dominican Republic to bring clean water into homes. Now, with the EWB Florida Professional Chapter, she is planning on going to Khabari, Nepal, to work on reliable access to clean water and distribution system. “These projects absolutely require you to develop the ability to meet someone where they are at and work from an empathetic standpoint.” Learn more about BC’s sustainability programs and #JoinTeamBC: https://ow.ly/2rzN50T1CGn #EWBUSA #PowerThroughPartnership #water #sustainability #infrastructure
