A global leader in antitrust affirmative recoveries for corporate clients
About us
BRS (BRS LLP/ Butler Reichline Skruzmane (BRS) LLP/ BRSNL B.V.) is a global leader in antitrust affirmative recoveries for corporate clients. As a premier litigation boutique comprised of skilled competition attorneys from some of the largest law firms, for more than a decade, we have delivered successful outcomes to corporate clients around the world who have incurred losses as a result of anti-competitive conduct. Regularly trusted by many of the largest national and multinational businesses, we have recovered record amounts for our clients across a range of industries. From our offices in California, London and Amsterdam, and with our strong network of collaboration partners world-wide, we address our clients’ antitrust needs wherever they arise. Affirmative recovery claims are corporate assets that company stakeholders have an interest in monetizing and claims can serve as flexible business tools. We specialize in group private damages actions and have successfully resolved such matters through a variety of avenues, including litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and negotiation, while offering up-front funding solutions for clients to pursue their claims. As a pure-play antitrust affirmative recovery practice, we are able to focus on our corporate clients’ damage recovery needs and opportunities unencumbered by the business conflicts that typically limit larger firms.

𝐁𝐑𝐒 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡! We are very excited to announce the opening of our Amsterdam office, effective immediately with seasoned antitrust litigation attorney Hans Bousie as managing partner. This strategic expansion into the Netherlands, as one of the key competition law markets within the European Union, reflects the firm's commitment to providing excellence in services to corporate clients involved in complex antitrust litigation matters on a pan-European and global scale. It has further strengthened our ability to serve our European and global clients from our offices in California, US, London, UK and now Amsterdam, NL, too, as also reflected in the new firm logo. The BRS NL team is comprised of highly skilled attorneys dedicated to antitrust law, delivering top notch legal representation and strategic counsel to our corporate clients seeking redress for antitrust related harms. A very warm welcome also to our new Amsterdam based associate Tessel Bossen, who has joined Hans from their previous law firm, bureau Brandeis, with which we look forward to continuing our various successful collaborations. 🌎✨! Here’s to our growing BRS team, now comprised of Keith Butler, Cindy Reichline, Lauma Skruzmane, Hans Bousie, Shira Liu, Maxwell Taylor Kennedy, Tamsin Rankine-Fourdraine, Tessel Bossen, Taylor Keating, Ryan Roth, Katie-Marie Boyd, Tiphaine A., Dan Shults, Mayra Figueroa and Adam Wantz.

Filling in the feedback forms for the annual American Bar Association Antitrust Spring Meeting in Washington D.C. last month had our BRS team reflecting on the fantastic time we all had. While our attorneys Keith Butler, Cindy Reichline, Lauma Skruzmane, Shira Liu, Taylor Keating and Ryan Roth have now returned to their offices in California and London, they have also taken back with them the many insights gained and new great memories made at the various conference sessions, panels, meetings, networking events and the chance to connect and reconnect with colleagues from around the world. Thank you again to all the organizers, speakers and other attendees who joined us in D.C. and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year! #AmericanBarAssociation #ATSpring #antitrust #antitrustlaw #competition #competitionlaw

While in the BRS team we sometimes refer to ourselves as antitrust geeks (in the best possible sense!) and can discuss the technicalities of recovery claims that follow-on from various antitrust infringements for hours, here is a brilliant explanation of one aspect of our work in minutes (regarding illegal abuse of dominance conduct by tech giants, such as Apple and the like). See: @morningbrew - https://lnkd.in/ejw8C85W. Thank you for the fantastic vision and execution by the creators and the team behind this! We are closely following these latest infringement findings from the European Commission, and various other regulators and broader developments in our space and stand ready to assist corporate clients (like Spotify and Deezer, as mentioned in the video) and clients anywhere across the globe in their recovery efforts for losses caused by such illegal abuse of dominance and cartel conduct. Our attorneys Keith Butler, Cindy Reichline, Lauma Skruzmane, Shira Liu, Taylor Keating and Ryan Roth are greatly looking forward to picking up these and other discussions, while attending the annual American Bar Association Antitrust Spring meeting kicking off in Washington D.C. today for the rest of this week. Greatly looking forward to reigniting old connections and making new ones there, also attending the various events, catch-ups and receptions kindly hosted, among others, by AlixPartners, BarentsKrans, Bates White, bureau Brandeis, Compass Lexecon, CRA, Hausfeld, Freshfields, Monckton Chambers, Morrison Foerster, NERA, Norton Rose. #AmericanBarAssocation #ATSpring #antitrust #antitrustlaw #competition #competitionlaw

Yesterday, Lauma Skruzmane from our BRS team attended the Competition Damages Symposium in London. A big thank you and well done to all the individuals and teams at AlixPartners, Hausfeld and Linklaters for organising and hosting! The event and various discussions offered a wide range of insights, including from the opening by Scott Campbell (Hausfeld), the key note address by Sir Peter Roth, former President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, and panels featuring Tom De La Mare KC (Blackstone Chambers), Matt Hunt (AlixPartners), Wessen Jazrawi (Hausfeld), and Sarina Williams (Linklaters), who covered developments and their perspectives on causation, and James Hennah (Linklaters), Lesley Hannah (Hausfeld), Felix Hammeke (AlixPartners), and Gayatri Sarathy (Blackstone Chambers), setting out developments and views on the intricate aspects of quantum. It was wonderful to see everyone and continue with more great discussions afterwards too. We hope this will become an annual feature on all of our calendars and look forward to continuing the debates on the various developments next year!

Really interesting speakers and debates as to how competition law can be a friend - or maybe a foe - for corporates looking to improve their sustainability through green agreements or other types of cooperation. Looking forward to learning more about this topic and how it will play out in the EU and in the UK following on from the Competition and Markets Authority's new Green Agreements Guidance. @American Bar Association @BRS
