Unions provide a framework of fairness, equality, and opportunity, ensuring that all workers have a chance to earn competitive wages and build sustainable careers in the construction industry. This translates to: 💵 Standardized Wage Rates: Unions negotiate collective bargaining agreements that establish standardized wages for all workers, regardless of gender, race, or background. This ensures that everyone doing the same work earns the same pay. 👷♂️ Training and Apprenticeship Programs: Union building trades offer high-quality training and apprenticeship programs that are accessible to all. These programs provide the skills and certifications needed to succeed in this industry. 👷♀️ Career Pathways and Advancement: Unions promote clear career pathways, with opportunities for advancement based on experience and skill rather than favoritism or bias. This structure helps historically disadvantaged groups move into leadership roles and higher-paying positions over time. 💪 Fair Treatment and Protection: Unions provide legal and workplace protections that ensure fair treatment on the job. This helps prevent discrimination, making it easier for everyone to earn wages that reflect their skills and contributions. When we stand together, we build stronger communities and create a more inclusive future for all. Fair wages and union support are key to making sure that EVERYONE can thrive in our industry. We believe that building a strong and diverse pipeline of registered apprentices is crucial for the future of the union building trades. As we celebrate #ConstructionInclusionWeek, we’re highlighting the importance of providing equal access to career opportunities for everyone in our community. Through connections with local high school counselors, and our annual interactive career fair at Fiserv Forum, we’re introducing students of all backgrounds to the many pathways available in the union building trades. This industry is inclusive from the start, offering equal opportunities for anyone to begin a lucrative career. Construction is more than just building structures – it's about building communities where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. This #ConstructionInclusionWeek, we're proud to highlight the progress union construction is making to ensure that our registered apprenticeships and job sites are safe and welcoming to all workers, regardless of background, gender, or ethnicity. This industry is actively creating pathways for underrepresented groups to enter and thrive in the trades, with registered apprenticeship programs that ensure every worker has access to top-tier training, mentorship, and career growth. Union construction proudly hires the vast majority of minority construction apprentices in greater Milwaukee. Inclusion isn’t just an initiative – it’s a foundation. Together, this industry is building a workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities, ensuring that all voices are heard, and all contributions are valued. ✊ Thank you to the Milwaukee Area Labor Council for these important apprenticeship statistics. #UnionStrong #UnionConstruction #DiversityInTrades #BuildBetterTogether
