We help families affected by addiction restore the peace and calm they crave in the midst of the chaos and confusion.

About us

Building Bridges to Recovery is committed to helping families affected by substance use disorder heal and unite. Substance use disorder (SUD) has a profound impact on the family and friends of the one struggling with SUD and we are here to help you get your own personal recovery by finding peace and happiness regardless of what your loved one is doing. Through your own personal growth and development you will become equipped to connect with your loved one on a deeper level; love him or her unconditionally; and promote health and healing in your family. I am Lori Bolen, the founder of Building Bridges to Recovery and I understand the chaos, the confusion, and the desperation family members feel because I’ve been there. I also know the peace, the clarity, and the hope God offers. I am Certified Family Recovery Life Coach with the BALM Training Institute for Family Recovery Services as well as Professional Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF), which is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification, and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals. Do you love someone with a substance use disorder? Let's talk! Are you a treatment center professional looking to add options to your family services? Let's talk!

  • International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31 each year. • International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) – held on August 31 every year – is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. The theme for 2024 is “Together We Can”, highlighting the power of community when we all stand together. * For people who use drugs and those who don’t. * For heartbroken friends and family members who have lost loved ones. * For activists who fight for sorely needed policy reform. * For healthcare and harm reduction workers. * For tireless advocates. Overdose can, and does, affect anyone, and we encourage you to remember the tenacity of our community. Lean into the power that we can have when we work together. If you love someone with a substance use disorder and need support, leave a comment, send a DM, or go to https://lnkd.in/eEEPjPdb and click on the purple Let's Talk button. You are not alone! #TogetherWeCan #IOAD2024 #EndOverdose

  • We are excited to be hosting a Save A Life Day event in Belmont County again this year! Save A Life Day started as a two county pilot in WV in 2020, spread to all 13 Appalachian states in 2023, and this year includes all states east of the Mississippi. By 2025, organizers expect it to go fully national. We will be distributing free naloxone (Narcan), information about substance use disorders, lists of local resources, and fun stuff like stickers and treats. We hope to see you there! Stay tuned for location and times. #SaveALifeEast

  • Happy New Year! New Year's is a time of reflection and planning for many. We'll see lots of posts reflecting on 2023 and planning for 2024 and when families are impacted by addiction, this can be a painful time of year so I thought I would take a different approach on New Year Goals and talk about how family members can welcome the new year in light of difficult circumstances. In my recent blog post, I talk about four aspects of meeting the challenges of loving someone with a substance use disorder or any other type of addiction, using the timeless wisdom of the Bible as our guiding light through this process. You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/epUvKPc4

  • I'm excited to announce that my interview on the Impactful Coaching podcast with Joseph Ianni is now live! Joseph and I talked about how addiction affects individuals and their families; how addiction looks different in 2023; and restoring faith and hope for individuals and their families. I'll drop the links where you can listen in the comments. I think you'll enjoy it. And please share with your friends and family.

  • We have clear definitions for what physical health looks like - but defining our mental health is not as clear! And we don't always feel comfortable talking about it. I would love for mental health to be something we talk about as naturally as our physical health. God created our brains just as He created all the other parts of our bodies. Mark 12:30 tells us "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." That speaks to all the aspects of our being - emotional (heart), spiritual (soul), mind (mental), and physical (strength). Let's normalize talking about mental health! I'll be sharing a very useful resource with everyone who signs up for my newsletter. Visit my website at https://lnkd.in/eDp9vJwH and write Newsletter in the message section so you can receive it! #mentalhealth #mentalhealthishealth #mentalhealthawareness
