Meet Kevin Scott, Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer and a driving force behind the company’s AI evolution. Born in rural Virginia, Kevin’s fascination with technology sparked at a young age. By his teenage years, he was already pushing the boundaries of programming, setting the stage for a remarkable career. Kevin studied computer science before launching into the tech industry. His career took off at Google, where he played a key role in scaling the company’s infrastructure and led mobile ads engineering, including the integration of the $750M AdMob acquisition. By 2011, he joined LinkedIn as VP of Engineering and later became Senior VP of Engineering and Operations. He led LinkedIn’s rapid expansion and played a pivotal role in its IPO. Then came the game-changer. In 2017, Microsoft appointed Kevin as its Chief Technology Officer, entrusting him with shaping the company’s technical vision. Under his leadership, Microsoft has driven groundbreaking AI advancements, including its multi-billion-dollar partnership with OpenAI. His work has influenced key products like Azure AI, GitHub Copilot, and AI-powered Microsoft services. Beyond tech, Kevin is committed to making innovation accessible. He authored Reprogramming the American Dream, exploring how AI can benefit communities beyond Silicon Valley. He also hosts the Behind the Tech podcast, highlighting the people shaping the future of technology. An angel investor and advisor, Kevin serves on Shopify’s board, leads the non-profit Behind the Tech, and supports initiatives like Harvard University’s TAPP program.
