🌟 Exciting News from Bunkerhill Health 🌟 We proudly announce that our CAC (Gated) device has received FDA clearance! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eC3AjrdU This cutting-edge technology uses a fully automated, end-to-end deep learning algorithm to analyze gated, non-contrast cardiac CT scans. It provides precise coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring, with vessel-specific Agatston scores for key arteries, empowering clinicians with comprehensive data. As highlighted in this ACC article by Roger Blumenthal, Miguel Cainzos-Achirica, MD MPH PhD, and Andrew Gagel, "the use of CAC in primary prevention is supported by a wealth of data showing that it improves risk prediction when combined with traditional risk factors and scores." 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eA9tKHB7 We’re excited about this technology's impact on improving cardiovascular care! #HealthTech #Cardiology #Innovation #FDAClearance #Healthcare

🫀 Prevalence of Coronary Atherosclerosis Among Patients Classified as Low Risk Peter Attia's analysis this week of research by Kamil Faridi, Matthew Budoff, Jack Ziffer, PhD, MD, FACC,FACR,FAHA,FASNC,MSCCT, Khurram Nasir, MD MPH MSc, Miguel Cainzos-Achirica, MD MPH PhD and others highlights the following: "Despite their evident “low risk” status, over one third (35.9%) of participants included in the analysis were found to have coronary plaque, while roughly one quarter (25.3%) had a CAC score over zero – an indication of the presence of early-stage artery calcification. Additionally, a smaller set of participants were found to have more advanced CVD, with 4.5% having CAC scores ≥100 (indicating moderate disease), 3.4% showing evidence of high-risk plaque, and 1.9% demonstrating artery blockage of at least 50% according to CCTA scans." By scoring incidental Coronary Artery Calcium in routine screenings, clinicians can proactively identify at-risk patients and optimize treatment strategies to minimize disease progression and the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiac death. The analysis concludes: "Thus, we return to the question posed at the start of this piece – why is atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease so deadly despite the existence of effective treatments? The results of the present study suggest a simple (albeit alarming) answer: millions of individuals with this disease are likely unaware of it." https://lnkd.in/d2g-Jiy4 #cardiovascularhealth #heartdisease #prevention #healthcareai

🚨 Transforming AS Detection with Opportunistic Screening 🚨 🫀 Just finished reading this great JACC article on opportunistic screening for aortic stenosis by Leandro Slipczuk, MD, PhD, FACC, Philippe Pibarot, Piotr Slomka, Damini Dey, and Marc Dweck. They highlight the importance of early detection of AS. Once symptoms develop, life expectancy can drop to just 2-3 years, making timely diagnosis and intervention crucial for optimal patient outcomes. In the U.S. alone, over 15 million non-gated, non-contrasted chest CT scans are performed annually. By applying AI to these routine chest CT scans, we can identify signs of AS without additional radiation, cost, or patient burden. This not only streamlines clinical workflows but increases the accuracy and speed of interpretation. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ddFN95zz #cardoivascularhealth #aorticvalvedisease #aorticatenosis #healthcareai #medicalresearch
