  • 💡 EMPLOYER SPOTLIGHT💡 Every month we are sharing REAL mom stories of companies that positively supported them in their motherhood journey. This month, we are honored to share the story of a positive workplace experience from our very own Founder, Mary Kay Ziniewicz! “Our colleagues are often an extension of family. For me, that was very much the case when I worked at the law firm Parsinen Kaplan Rosberg and Gotlieb (PKR+G). My employer supported me when I experienced pregnancy loss at 12 weeks. Miscarriage is something that is difficult to talk about and usually not in the employee handbook. I shared my loss with our leadership team Marcey Potter (HR Director), Karen Van Buren (CFO), and the firm managing partner, Howard Jay Rubin. I was encouraged to take time to recover. No questions asked. This was my first of three miscarriages. Oddly, for this miscarriage, I was instructed by my doctor to go home and wait for the pregnancy to pass. This was horrifying for me. The thought of functioning, and going to work in this condition seemed unfathomable. The pregnancy did not "pass" and I ultimately went in for surgery. I was provided time to grieve and to heal. The firm, under the leadership of a compassionate managing partner, Howard Jay Rubin, supported me at a time that is so terribly difficult. A time that is so hard to talk about, and is often overlooked in company benefits. I have worked with law firms throughout my career and it has been my experience that lawyers care for their colleagues. This was certainly my experience at PKR+G.” *Note: PKR+G merged with another firm in 2009.
