About us

The Chamber of Mothers is a coalition of motherhood community leaders and individuals united in advocating for mothers' rights, modeled after the Chamber of Commerce, the largest lobbying block in the United States. Our first goal is to win paid leave, and we have been working in concert with existing lobby and advocacy groups toward that end. Donate: www.give.cornerstone.cc/chamberofmothers

With no paid leave, childcare costs, and maternal mortality rates rising, American families are struggling. The only path forward is by working across political party lines. We're proudly supporting several pieces of bipartisan legislation that would address these crises and thank the U.S. Senators and Representatives who are reaching across the aisle to fight for a better future for mothers and families. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) Reps. Lauren Underwood (D-IL) Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA) Rep. Young Kim (CA-40) Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-09) Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-08) Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) Sen.Tina Smith (D-MN) Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) Rep. I'm happy to announce I have joined the Chamber of Mothers Board of Directors. Here is why I said YES: ❌ In the United States, there is no national paid family leave policy. Childcare is inaccessible and unaffordable. And maternal mortality is a national emergency. 📣 Chamber of Mothers is building a force of bipartisan moms across the country, using old school, highly effective, grassroots organizing strategies, building local chapters and empowering leaders to bring moms together to take action. There is a waitlist of over 300 people eager to start a chapter in their local city or state. 🐣 They advocate for policies that will make the transition to parenthood easier, especially for moms: mandatory Paid Leave, Black Maternal Health, and more resources for childcare. And collaborate with other leading non-profits in the space. 👊 They raise awareness and engage their rapidly growing grassroots network at moments in time that matter most. Right now they are increasing voter registration for moms, through their Vote Like a Mother campaign. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gAu_S4_n Please check out their work, make sure you're registered to vote, and donate! Excited to kick ass with Erin Erenberg, Deshi Singh, Pooja Lakshmin, MD, Raena Boston, Kimberly Didrikson, and many more. #paidfamilyleave #votelikeamother #chamberofmothers #BlackMaternalHealth

Today is National Working Parents Day and if you’re new around here, you should know this is something we celebrate every single day. 🎉 But today, we’re saying it extra loud alongside our partners and we’re upping the ante. The Vote Like a Mother®️ initiative is a call to vote your values as a mother (father, caregiver), whatever that means to YOU! But that isn’t always easy. In fact, we know that this election season is A LOT. So, LUMO in partnership with Bobbie is leading a workshop, “Setting Healthy Boundaries for Voting Parents” on October 22nd at 1:00pm ET/10:00am PST where we’re transforming political stress into parental empowerment. Election season can be overwhelming, but we’re here to help you navigate political discussions with grace and conserve your energy for what truly matters in your life. You’ll Learn 1. LUMO’s four-step process for creating rock-solid boundaries 2. Ready-to-use boundary scripts for election conversations (and beyond!) 3. Strategies for when boundaries are (inevitably) broken By the end of this workshop, you’ll be adept at setting and maintaining boundaries, ready to face election season with poise and the determination of a mother on a mission. Remember: You have the power to make your home a low-stress zone during election time. Let’s channel that election tension into positive intention! Join us and discover how to vote (and live) like the capable mother you are. The workshop is sliding scale, available for individuals and enterprises and 100% of proceeds will go to the Chamber of Mothers, “Vote Like a Mother Initiative®️”. Chamber of Mothers is a national nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit uniting mothers as advocates to create a better America by fighting for paid family and medical leave; accessible, affordable childcare; and improved maternal health. #WomensEqualityDay 104 years ago, The 19th Amendment was adopted and officially became part of the U.S. Constitution. Did you know that the final vote went to 24-year-old Harry T. Burns, the youngest member of the Tennessee General Assembly? During the initial vote, he wore an anti-suffragist pin and voted against the amendment in what would be a tie vote. A letter from his MOTHER, Febb Burn, had been delivered to him in the chamber before revoting. It read: “Dear Son, … Hurray and vote for Suffrage and don’t keep them in doubt. I noticed Chandlers’ speech, it was very bitter. I’ve been waiting to see how you stood but have not seen anything yet…. Don’t forget to be a god boy and help Mrs. Catt with her “Rats.” Is she the one that put rat in ratification, Ha! No more from mama this time. With lots of love, Mama.” When revoting, Burns voted “Aye," which made Tennessee the 36th state needed for the 19th Amendment to be adopted as a Constitutional Amendment. But before Burns's vote determined the fate of the 19th Amendment, the success of ratification was a huge movement of people working together who lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience for a century to achieve it. Even after that, it took 60+ years for ALL women to gain the right to vote legally.
