Yesterday the San Ysidro community welcomed its tallest and most dense senior affordable housing community, Ventana al Sur. This modern structure provides 100 new apartment homes for low income seniors, with 25 of the units dedicated specifically to seniors experiencing homelessness. As Assembly member David Alvarez stated during yesterday's #ribboncutting, “If we are not addressing our housing crisis for seniors now, we will find ourselves in a much larger crisis down the road.” Congratulations to the #SanYsidro community and thank you to MAAC, Kingdom Development, San Diego Housing Commission, the The City of San Diego, Rodriguez Associates Architects, and the entire project team, which is dedicated to building a future where everyone has a roof over their head at an affordable price! #affordablehousing #structuralengineering #BWE

An enlightening article by George Varga in the The San Diego Union-Tribune who does a deep-dive into the acoustical tuning process undertaken to turn a 95-year-old movie theatre into the San Diego Symphony's fine-tuned concert hall, now known as the Jacobs Music Center. Our staff was privileged to play a small part in this landmark transformation. #structuralengineering #3Dlaserscanning #civilengineering

We are still reeling from last night’s “Building the Dream” concert, where the reimagined Joan & Irwin Jacobs Music Center hosted the people who made this historic renovation a reality. After four years, the talented musicians of the San Diego Symphony returned home to fill this ornate hall with the classics (Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and more), reminding us all why we worked so diligently to see this venue and the musical arts in San Diego reach new heights. A huge thank you to Howard N. Mills, LEED AP, DBIA with Rudolph and Sletten, the entire project team, and the San Diego Symphony for allowing us to be a part of this historical honor. In the words of Symphony President & CEO, Martha Gilmer, “This is a gift to the city.”
