Celebrating 42 years of excellence in our profession, service to our communities and sisterhood with one another

About us

BWLNC provides professional, educational, social, and moral support for Black women judges, lawyers and law students in Northern California, while also remaining dedicated to active service in our surrounding communities. From our founding in 1979, Black Women Lawyers Association of Northern California (“BWLNC”) has been a source of support and sisterhood for Black women in the legal profession in Northern California. Our programs range from in-depth roundtable discussions to community service projects to networking events, all with frank and open discussions unique to the needs and experiences of black women attorneys. Our membership has long been comprised of senior level executives and in-house attorneys, law firm partners and associates, solo practitioners, public interest and public sector attorneys, distinguished judges and professors, and law students from some of the best institutions in the country. No other bar association has such an amazing membership. And yet, we are so much more than just a bar association. We are a SISTERHOOD.
