Graduating BYU MBA Benjamin Williams was announced today as the 2024 Best & Brightest MBA by Poets&Quants. Congratulations, Ben, and thank you for being a hard-working, talented student and great representative of the BYU Marriott MBA! From the interview here: https://lnkd.in/gWdb9eFh ▶ Which academic or extracurricular achievement are you most proud of during business school? "I served as co-president of the MBA #FaithandBeliefatWork Case Competition. We invited MBA students from across the country to share ideas on how we can strengthen the workplace through diversity and expressions of faith. We ended up hosting 16 MBA programs from across the country who represented diverse faiths. I am most proud of this event because research shows that work satisfaction, happiness, and drive are affected by your ability to bring your whole self to work, including spirituality. From this event, I was able to see people from all walks of life find common ground and become friends. There’s a fundamental need for people to be understood. I think when you understand each other, you’re able to build a bond. And when you build a bond, you’re able to work better together." #byumba #byumarriott #mbagrad #poetsandquants #bestandbrightest

Last week Salt Lake City was awarded the opportunity to host the 2034 Winter Olympics - making it only the 4th city to host two Winter Olympics in the modern era. We were living in SLC for the 2002 Winter Olympics and actually had the privilege of attending the opening ceremonies. The pictures below are of my ticket as well as me holding the US flag with the customers we were hosting (I’m second from the right).  One of the most poignant moments of the opening ceremony was when the flag that flew over the World Trade Center in NYC was brought into the stadium.  The reverence and silence was touching. I am excited for SLC to host the Olympics again.  To get ready for the 2002 Olympics there was a massive build-out of capacity.  Things like the main highway through SLC (I-15) was more than doubled in width to accommodate the traffic.  The city and state are still seeing benefits from these investments.  When the Olympics were over there was a surplus of $100M in funding that was given to the city to maintain the incredible venues that had been built.  Those venues are in great shape today and have been key training facilities for the US Olympic Team, as well as a place where kids can be introduced to some of these sports when they are young. If you have never taken a ride down a bobsled run you have come to SLC and try it. Utah in general is widely recognized as an amazing place to live and work.  Here is a list of some of the accolades and recognition Utah has received in just the last few months (https://lnkd.in/gNUAmVnx) #1 in best over all state for the second consecutive year (US New & World Report April 2024) #1 best economic outlook for the 17th consecutive year (Rich States Poor States April 2024)  #1 best state to start a business (WalletHub Jan 2024)  #1 best environment for social mobility (Archbridge Institute Jan 2024 #1 best US airport, #8 best worldwide airport (Airhelp July 2024)  #2 for best state economy (WalletHub June 2024) #6 most affordable state (USA Today March 2024)  3 of the top 5 best small cities for starting a business are in Utah (WalletHub April 2024) Here at Qualtrics we are happy to have been founded in Utah and for much of our company to call Utah home. We are excited to show the world more of Utah in 2034!

This is such a great news and I am proud to be an Alumni of Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business. Motto of "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve" combined with fantastic education, talented professors and fellow students makes it one of the best programs. Thanks Shawn P. Butler, MBA and Daniel Snow for sharing this news and for a fantastic meet yesterday at Microsoft Lehi organized by Brandon Rowley. Please reach out to me if you are considering applying to EMBA/ MBA program at BYU. Happy to answer questions on my experience and the value of Brigham Young University education.
