Cabinetworks Group still on the road with our “Think Differently - Design Beyond the Predictable” roadshow, where our design and trend experts are connecting with designers and customers nationwide. This roadshow explores the evolution of the kitchen, delves into style and color trends, and showcases innovative cabinetry solutions for transforming spaces both in the kitchen and beyond. Our recent stop was in Columbia, Maryland, from August 20-21. Set against the serene backdrop of Lake Kittamaqundi, conveniently positioned between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., the event was a vibrant two-day experience filled with insightful conversations, design ideation and plenty of laughter. Thank you to everyone who attended! We’re gearing up for more stops on our roadshow, including Long Island (September 24-25), Charleston, South Carolina (October 15-16) and Nashville (October 23-24). Designers interested in joining us at any of these upcoming events should reach out to their Cabinetworks Account Manager for more details. We look forward to seeing you on the road and exploring new design possibilities together!

Design trends can transform a home into a personalized living space. Minimalism – the art of living with less – has inspired a microtrend called Relaxed Mod, which brings both function and fun to your living space. Relaxed Mod is a relatively new trend in home design, merging the playful elements often found in kids’ rooms with the architectural aesthetics of minimalism. Unlike the stark, sometimes impersonal feel of strict minimalism, Relaxed Mod embraces a playful use of “almost” primary colors, using a variety of shapes to create a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. The result is a modern look that’s both inviting and functional, featuring color blocking and simple forms that enhance the space without overwhelming it. Want to stay ahead of the latest trends? Check out this beautiful kitchen, selected by our trends and innovation team as a prime example of Relaxed Mod.

Design trends play a crucial role in both functionality and creating an emotional connection with a space. One trend that has recently captivated the design world is Scandinese – a microtrend inspired by Minimalism, defined as the art of living with less. Emerging in the 21st century, Scandinese represents a fusion of Scandinavian minimalism with the rich cultural heritage and elegant patterns of Chinese design. This microtrend combines the clean lines and simplicity of Scandinavian aesthetics with the traditional, intricate beauty of Chinese elements, creating a unique multicultural appeal for contemporary interiors. Scandinese design is characterized by its use of natural materials such as wood, stone and textiles like paper, linen and grass-inspired textures. The color palette often remains subdued, featuring neutral tones with occasional bursts of traditional Chinese colors like red, blue and green. The approach to cabinetry in Scandinese design includes a thoughtful balance of open shelves and closed cabinets, maximizing both functionality and visual appeal. We love the way Scandinese design elevates this beautiful space!

As we build life into the kitchen, we pay close attention to current trends. One of them is Japandi, a microtrend inspired by Minimalism – the art of living with less. Japandi is the fusion of the calm and warmth of Scandinavian design and the simplicity of Japanese design. Both design styles have a lot in common, making it an effortless blend featuring wood-tones, influenced by nature and underscoring simplicity and craftsmanship. Japandi homes date back many centuries with Scandinavian designers captivated by the Japanese style once Japan opened its borders in the 1850s. It remains a popular design style that incorporates architectural textures, fluting or slats, and lush greenery to create a peaceful, harmonious space. This kitchen, selected by our trends and innovation team, provides a beautiful look at Japandi influences!

In the world of design, trends matter. They keep us inspired and informed as we build life into the kitchen. Tressa Samdal, Cabinetworks Group’s Director of Trends and Innovation, and her team examine how macro trends impact design, including wellness and holistic living. Wellness translates into the overarching design trend of Minimalism. A lifestyle choice just as much as a design choice, Minimalism is about living with intention, focusing on what truly matters and eliminating excess.   Minimalism inspires us to declutter and simplify our homes, create calm and serene spaces, and engage in sustainable choices to create less waste. Homes with minimalist interiors often have clean lines, functional furniture, open spaces, natural light and simple decor. We see three microtrend styles influenced by Minimalism, including Japandi, Scandinese and Relaxed Mod. Watch for more to come on the microtrends this week as we dive deeper. And, download this PDF for exclusive content about Minimalism from our trends and innovation team.

Our retail sales team is excited and energized after their national sales meeting, held in Chicago earlier this month! We kicked things off with a "purple party" to celebrate our KraftMaid brand. The next day included a deep dive into 'The KraftMaid Difference,' reviewing the construction, durability and style benefits of our cabinetry and how to help designers deliver that message. The final day was all about our customers, and brainstorming new ideas to support kitchen designers--the talented professionals who rely on our products, services, and know-how to create show-stopping dream kitchens for their clients every day. It was great to spend some time learning and engaging together, and now, we're right back to work serving our customers. Let's go! Let's GROW!

Cabinetworks Group is on the road! Starting this summer and into the fall, we're traveling across the country, meeting with designers and customers. Together, we're discussing how to help homeowners remake their beloved homes into their dream spaces with our "Think Differently - Design Beyond the Predictable" roadshow. Our design and trend experts are spending time with designers, taking a journey on the history of the kitchen and its evolution, highlighting style and color trends and discussing innovative ways to create new spaces using cabinetry in the kitchen and beyond. As the largest privately held cabinetmaker in the U.S., we pride ourselves on our craft and want to share it with others. This June, we were in Dearborn, Michigan as we hosted partners at the historic The Henry Ford Museum where we could look at the future, grounded in historic design of the past. A big thank you to those who joined us! More recently, we made a stop in Boston (July 30-31), where designers stayed on the waterfront of the historic North End and found inspiration among some of the oldest buildings in the city. Designers also enjoyed a reception at the New England Aquarium with live jazz, a strolling dinner and aquarium tour. This week we're in Columbia, Maryland, and we look forward to seeing more of you on the road as we make stops in Long Island (September 24-25), Charleston, South Carolina (October 15-16) and Nashville (October 23-24). Designers, if you'd like to learn how you can participate in an upcoming roadshow stop, please talk to your Cabinetworks Account Manager.

Congratulations to our Mount Jackson, Virginia facility, honored with a 2024 Virginia Governor's Environmental Excellence Award Gold Medal at the Virginia Environmental Symposium earlier this year. The award recognizes the significant contributions of environmental and conservation leaders in five categories: sustainability, environmental project, greening of government, land conservation, and implementation of the Virginia Outdoors Plan. Cabinetworks Mount Jackson was recognized for its waste reclamation program, which converts hazardous waste to a reusable belt-cleaning product utilized during the cabinetry production process. This distillation process reduces the volume of disposed hazardous waste and the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Reducing our environmental impact through sustainable and environmental practices will always be a commitment as we work to set the industry standard, be a good neighbor, and a good global citizen. We applaud the work of our Mount Jackson team, who accepted the award on behalf of our company. https://bit.ly/3yvtlg5
