The early formation of hurricane #Beryl forecasts an unusually strong cyclone season in the Atlantic, a result of the La Niña phenomenon. 🌊 It impacted the Yucatán Peninsula on July 5 and the Matagorda area in Texas as of this morning. CADENA International will operate in areas affected by Hurricane Beryl in Mexico's Atlantic coast. Through our HurriCANe campaign, you can make a big difference in the life of many people. #Beryl is the strongest and most anticipated hurricane ever recorded in June. At one point, it reached Category 5 as it passed through the Caribbean. Even as a Category 4, it has affected thousands of people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados, Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Media reports indicate seven deaths as of July 4th and several people missing. The Copernicus Emergency Management Service has produced three maps showing significant damage to the islands' infrastructure. Power outages and lack of drinking water are also reported. Union Island, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, suffered almost total devastation. Beryl is forecasted to pass south of the Cayman Islands on July 4th as a Category 2 hurricane and make landfall on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico on July 5th. #CADENAInternacional, whose mission is to provide hand in hand aid to those in need, is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take action. This month, we had the exceptional opportunity to participate in Olam Together’s Focal Point 2024. Our Secretary General, Sol Bentolila, and Annie Vainrub, Director of International Education represented CADENA at this one-of-a-kind conference. We are incredibly proud to be part of this influential network of Jewish NGOs, all of which are committed to creating a better world through collective efforts. OLAM Together provided us with a platform to engage with a diverse network of leaders, directors, and organizations that are making a difference across the world. The conference brought together 180 participants, each dedicated to addressing critical global challenges. During the event, #CADENA had the privilege of sharing its extensive work and dedicated efforts in aiding the most vulnerable communities, showcasing our commitment to disaster prevention, relief, and humanitarian aid. The interactions and collaborations at #OlamTogether’s Focal Point were invaluable. We were able to exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices with other NGOs, fostering an environment of mutual learning and growth. This event marks a significant milestone for CADENA, as it opens new opportunities for collaboration with international organizations that share our vision of repairing the world.

We’re thrilled to share that CADENA International has been selected as one of the outstanding nonprofit organizations for @Tech to the Rescue’s AI for Changemaker’s Accelerator Program - organized in collaboration with @AWS and @Google.org. As one of the 9 organizations selected for the #AIforDisasterManagement cohort, over the next months, we will embark on an AI learning & innovation journey together with tech companies that will be supporting us pro-bono! We are looking forward to learning and networking with the whole AI for Changemakers community and identifying the best ways in which we can benefit from AI. The next steps for us are participating in a 7-week AI Bootcamp to learn and strategize around AI and then get matched with an AI tech team from the @Tech To The Rescue community that wants to support us on a pro-bono basis.
