First, file a complaint, sometimes called an appeal or grievance, with your health care plan. Then, after 30 days, if your appeal is denied or you are unhappy with the outcome, you can contact the DMHC Help Center at 1-888-466-2219. Appeals to the DMHC are successful in 7 out of 10 cases. The DMHC has recovered $53 million from health plans on behalf of health plan members. Members who have an an issue with their health plan can file a grievance with their plan.
