🕒 Australian 3G Sunset just got an extension. But you’re not off the hook yet and neither is your IoT equipment. 🚨 Here’s how to not let it disappear in the mist: If you are using IoT devices in Australia that rely on 3G network connectivity, you may be facing a serious risk of service disruption. TPG Telecom/Vodafone has already switched off its 3G network, and the clock is ticking for your IoT devices. Other mobile operators have extended their deadlines.  What This Means for You: 📅 Telstra: 3G phase-out now begins on 28 October 2024.  📅 Optus: 3G network shutdown also extended to 28 October 2024. ⚠️ Don’t let this extension give you a false sense of security. The sooner you upgrade your devices to 4G, the better. The clock is still ticking, and your IoT devices could be at risk of going completely dark. At CalAmp, we have a proven track record of navigating network shutdowns across various regions, helping our customers transition smoothly and cost-effectively. We offer a range of solutions compatible with the latest network technologies, enhancing the performance, security, and reliability of your IoT applications. Whether you need telematics, asset tracking, fleet management, remote monitoring, or programmable solutions, we have the right products and partners for you. 🔗 Learn More in our Guide: https://lnkd.in/ehayWyZU Get in touch to find out how we can help you future-proof your IoT devices and avoid service interruption.  #3GSunset #IoT #Telematics #Connectivity #Australia #CalAmp #FutureProofing

🚀 Excited to announce the launch of Inventory Manager, a new feature for CalAmp Device Management portal that provides our customers with full provisioning details for their IoT hardware as soon as it leaves the factory. Waiting for your hardware to arrive before configuration can be a major bottleneck in improving time-to-value with your telematics solution. As part of our commitment to enhancing the customer experience in deploying IoT devices, we developed Inventory Manager to provide end-to-end visibility, allowing our customers to streamline deployment processes and ensure devices are correctly configured upon activation. CalAmp Inventory Manager solves this by centralizing: 🔍 Real-Time Tracking: Monitor your devices from factory dispatch to activation with shipment details and device IDs. ⚙️ Prequeue Software Download: Develop and provision the desired firmware to download as soon as the device is activated. 🌍 Flexible Region Management: Keep devices in an 'inventory state' and assign them to the appropriate server region (NA/EU) when ready, ensuring compliance with data sovereignty requirements. These features eliminate the hassle of manual tracking and provide comprehensive oversight, ensuring your devices are up-to-date and ready for deployment without delay. ✅ Learn more in our press release and for our existing customers, start using Inventory Manager today when you log into our device management portal! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gNVM3Jvb #InventoryManagement #IoT #Automation #CalAmp #Efficiency #Innovation

Ever wonder if an IP67 rating in IoT equipment covers IP66 and below? 🤔   Short Answer: Not exactly. Each IP rating has its own specific tests for dust and water protection. IP, or Ingress Protection, ratings show how well devices are shielded from solids and liquids. These standards are set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to ensure consistent and reliable electronics worldwide. But here's the kicker: a higher rating like IP67 doesn't automatically trump IP66. It's a different test, not necessarily a better one.  Let's dissect this further.  The first digit in an IP rating (IP6x) indicates protection from solid objects. A "6" means it's fully sealed and dustproof.  Let's break down the second digit, which shows water protection:  • IPx0: No protection  • IPx1: Vertically falling water drops  • IPx2: Vertically falling drops with enclosure tilted up to 15°  • IPx3: Spraying water at angles up to 60°  • IPx4: Splashing water from any direction  • 𝗜𝗣𝘅𝟱: 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻  • 𝗜𝗣𝘅𝟲: 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗲𝘁𝘀  • IPx7: Temporary immersion  • IPx8: Continuous immersion  • 𝗜𝗣𝘅𝟵𝗞: 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝗲𝘁𝘀  As you can see, different levels of water protection address different situations. For example, IPx5, IPx6, and IPx9K deal with water jets, while IPx7 and IPx8 handle immersion. Real world implications here when comparing IPx7 vs IPx6, being able to submerge IoT equipment into liquids does not necessarily guarantee that the equipment can survive a trip to the pressure washer, even if the former is a higher rating. You may need multiple ratings to ensure your device functions as intended in the right environment. Why does this matter to your IoT telematics strategy? To keep collecting reliable data in all weather, your IoT equipment needs to be tough enough to perform in extreme conditions. For service providers, it’s crucial to meet industry compliance standards to continuously deliver uninterrupted service to your customers. Don't let your devices drown in misinformation! 💧  Since IP ratings only cover dust and liquids, what other rugged certifications would you expect out of IoT equipment when operating in extreme environments? Give us your thoughts below!  #Telematics #IoT #IPRatings #IndustryStandards #DeviceProtection #IEC
