Experts in Spark Plasma Sintering and Cryomilling

About us

California Nanotechnologies Inc, (Cal Nano) is North America’s premiere commercial FAST/SPS and Cryo-milling experts. Cal Nano has extensive experience in dozens of R&D and pilot production projects with Industrial partners, National Labs, and Universities. Projects successfully executed include developing and producing novel metallic alloys, HEAs, RHEAs, HTCs, and bonded or graded composite materials. During these programs, Cal Nano’s team successfully produced novel alloys and material systems in powdered form from elemental constituents using the company's Cryogenic Milling technology, followed by consolidation via Field Assisted Sintering Tech (FAST) aka Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). Parameter optimization studies are often needed to improve bulk material and final component properties. Cal Nano's newly expanded 20000 ft2 facility in Santa Ana, CA is suitable for further optimizations and scaling up of these manufacturing processes to meet growing demands and applications. Cal Nano’s equipment and process development capabilities include multiple in-house Spark Plasma Sintering systems, Cryogenic Mills, Planetary Mills, Inert Powder handling, Powder classifying and particle size analysis, mechanical testing, tooling design and fabrication. Cal Nano can produce new novel alloys and RHEAs materials and parts from 10-450mm in diameter and it has extensive experience sintering more complex shapes. Our Mission: Bringing next-generation materials to market with cutting-edge technologies. At Cal Nano, we envision a world in which our advanced technologies are used to help make the most innovative products on this planet and beyond. We are trusted by global leaders to help push the boundaries of applied material science by utilizing our unique technical expertise and vision.

Join us on Day 1 at the Technology Showcase for the presentation - Rapid Material Development and Component Production via Cryogenic Milling and FAST Spark Plasma Sintering. Presented by: Christopher Melnyk, Director of Business Development, California Nanotechnologies Inc Showcase Description: This presentation explores the advantages of combining advanced cryogenic milling and Field-Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST), also known as Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). These processes offer a revolutionary approach to synthesizing novel materials, particularly High Entropy Alloys (HEAs) and high-temperature ceramic composites. Cryogenic milling, performed below -150°C, creates powders with controlled microstructures and particle sizes ranging from conventional to nano-scale. FAST SPS diffusion bonds solids and rapidly consolidates powdered materials into dense, high-performance components using pressure and pulsed direct current, resulting in several advantages. These integrations reduce processing time and allow for rapidly exploring various compositions and structures. The developed materials exhibit superior mechanical, thermal, and corrosion properties, making them ideal for arrays of emerging technologies including Hypersonics, Fusion, and Green Energy. This approach facilitates the rapid resolution of material property challenges and enables the direct production of bulk materials and complex geometry components from novel material solutions. ➡️ View the full conference agenda: https://lnkd.in/eyPvDQQc ➡️ Register for free: https://vist.ly/3ghha #AMU24 #TheAdvancedMaterialsShowUSA #MST24 #AdvancedMaterials #Nanotechnology #Ceramics #Conference #Expo #Science #Graphene #Materials
