Enjoying the turquoise waters in South Yuba River State Park is on many people's bucket lists for good reason. Yet, the risks increase as more people set out to enjoy this pristine park. We all have a responsibility to recreate safely for ourselves, those we come with, and the natural environment. That's where South Yuba River Citizens League comes in! They provide face-to-face education and outreach to help prepare visitors to enjoy this place safely, and they hold clean-up events to reduce the impact of those who don't follow Leave No Trace guidelines. We at California State Parks Foundation are proud to provide funding for this critical work.     Learn more about this organization's impact and how you can follow its lead wherever you swim in our recent blog at https://ow.ly/EApq50T1r5E.

  • If you’ve been looking for a sign to deepen your connection and increase your impact at California state parks... this is your sign!! ⚠️ We’re holding trainings in September and October for those interested in becoming Volunteer Core Leaders. These important people serve as ambassadors for our organization. They develop a rapport with park staff, get to know the unique culture and needs of their park, and support workdays. • School’s back in session, but the sun didn’t get the memo! ☀️🥵 It’s shaping up to be another warm week! Have no fear, California state parks are here, providing a variety of ways to stay cool. Visit our blog at https://lnkd.in/gi3cCr-f to grab tips on how to escape the heat. Here’s a freebie: you don’t often have to travel far, as urban parks (like Los Angeles State Historic Park and Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, pictured) are often cooler than their surrounding urban environments AND help keep our cities cooler too!

  • "A legacy should aim to expand one's capacity to love," says John Mott, son of California State Park Foundation’s founder while discussing the impact one can have on their community and the world while estate planning. In honor of Make-A-Will Month this August, John sat down to talk to us about his philosophy on estate planning. It was an inspiring conversation – will it inspire you too?
