Camp Tecumseh YMCA reposted this
I love this picture from this past weekend, celebrating 100 years of Camp Tecumseh YMCA. It was a great weekend, filled with rekindled friendships, shared memories, and a lot of fun. This picture was part of likely my favorite campfire I’ve ever been part of. Shortly after this weekend, a friend and colleague, who is new to Camp Tecumseh, commented that it says a lot about an organization when the current and past two CEOs can share a stage and spotlight (or in this case torch-light) with each other and all genuinely enjoy it. Without concern for ego or who is getting credit for what, or which alumni feel more connected to which director. It’s not something that often happens at an organization. It was an honor that these two men would be willing to stand on stage with me without any hesitation from any of us - except maybe a fear of forgetting lines that are so important to so many. And it reminds me that whenever my time at Tecumseh is done, one of the most important things I can do is leave camp in better shape than I found it and set the next person up for success. Some might say “leave the bottle full for others.” I know that I am blessed to work at Camp Tecumseh, and I am blessed to have had two exceptional role models to follow - who have shown me what it looks like to Live Third.
