Advancing Democracy Through Law
About us
Campaign Legal Center (CLC) is dedicated to advancing democracy through law, fighting for every American’s right to participate in the democratic process. CLC uses tactics such as litigation, policy advocacy, communications and partnerships to win victories that result in a more transparent, accountable and inclusive democracy. Our long-term goal is a government responsive to the people. CLC’s commitment is to democracy, not to any political party or to any particular electoral result. We think about systemic impact when we choose which work to pursue, but we work at all levels of government to introduce innovative ideas that will drive significant change or set an important legal precedent. Our priority is engaging and driving action – whether in the courtroom, newsroom or statehouse.

Casting your ballot is only the beginning of a multi-step process to determine and finalize the results of an election. But what exactly does certifying an election look like? Election certification serves as an important “period” at the end of the postelection process “sentence.” Long after voters have gone home, with ballots completed and stickers on lapels, certification gives voters the assurance that election results have been checked, confirmed and reflect the will of the people.

As #HispanicHeritageMonth concludes, let’s remember that our democracy is stronger when Hispanic voters can participate fully. Protecting the freedom to vote and improving accessibility remain essential for a more inclusive system.

Just weeks before Election Day, over 48% of Latino voters report no contact from any campaign, despite Latino voters’ potential to tip the scales in critical national and state races. This is why we joined 14 other Latino organizations in sending a letter to both parties sounding the alarm about insufficient outreach efforts to Latino voters. To earn our trust and our votes, candidates must engage directly with Latino communities and outline real solutions for key issues like inflation, job security,] and housing affordability. https://lnkd.in/gv_CVSuH #UnidosUS
