As cyberattacks continue to rise, businesses have implemented more robust risk controls, resulting in reduced insurance costs. In 2024, cyber insurance premiums dropped, following a similar trend from the previous year, despite ransomware attacks increasing by 218% in 2023. Fewer businesses are paying ransoms, and companies have better backup systems and employee training to mitigate risks. However, cyber insurers are introducing new exclusions, including war risks, regulatory risks, and wrongful data collection, which could limit coverage for specific incidents. The California Senate has approved two bills: one allowing small marijuana growers to sell their products at state-organized farmers' markets and another legalizing cannabis cafes. The bills received strong support, with the marijuana farmers' market measure passing 27-5 and the cannabis cafe proposal passing 30-7. The bill for farmers' markets also permits on-site cannabis consumption at approved events, but sales at traditional farmers' markets will require local and state approval.
