  • This week 4-H released "Beyond Ready," a new initiative that aims to equip 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 with skills for future success, and we read the brief. Here are 7 takeaways that caught our attention: 1. 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀. With 53% reporting feelings of loneliness and 52% feeling that they're failing at life goals, our youth are feeling disconnected and uncertain about how to prepare for and think about the future.     2. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀. They are seeking job candidates who can think analytically, and demonstrate creativity, resilience—adapting to the ever-changing world of work.     3. 𝟰-𝗛'𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀. Their development model is backed by 20+ years of longitudinal research in partnership with Tufts University. In fact, they're the only organization with 𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.     4. 𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱. 4-H's Thriving Model tracks and emphasizes which milestones and capabilities are most important for young people at each stage of their life, balancing academic skills with character growth. 5. 𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 85% of the jobs that Gen Z will pursue in 2030 don't yet exist! We have to assume that work and technology will continue to change at a rapid pace, and prepare youth to be lifelong learners.     6. 𝗔 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱. Preparing 10 million youth means driving impactful programming, equipping educators, and mobilizing the existing 4-H network with government agencies, land-grant universities, and local partners.     7. 𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀. Beyond Ready as an initiative invites community stakeholders from all sectors of society to get involved in this effort. Building an onramp for the next generation to succeed is a shared responsibility that extends well beyond our schools and families. 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 4-H is charting a new course and setting the standard for youth empowerment on a national scale—combining scientific research, skill development, and community involvement—and we're 100% here for it. How do you think 4-H's Beyond Ready initiative might shape the future of youth education and work? Thank you National 4-H Council, for overseeing this work and charting a new path ahead! #4HBeyondReady #National4HWeek
