Today, Shu-Hao Liou, PhD, a Principal Scientist in Carbon’s Process Development Team, will be speaking at the 16th Annual Bioprocessing Summit. Shu-Hao was selected by the Cambridge Healthtech Institute to present Carbon’s approach to process development of its novel parvovirus vectors. Shu-Hao will discuss how Carbon was able to establish unique manufacturing processes that rapidly generated potent materials to support our portfolio. Today, Sung Jo, a member of the Carbon Biosciences Analytical Development team, will be presenting at @Hanson Wade Group’s 2nd Annual Gene Therapy Potency Assay Summit in Boston, MA. Sung will detail his approach to in vitro potency assay development and optimization for CGT-001, Carbon’s lead pulmonary program in development for Cystic Fibrosis. Carbon continues to enhance its expertise with the appointment of Matt Killeen, Ph.D. to our Scientific Advisory Board. Matt is an experienced drug developer with a passion for harnessing novel technologies to develop precision therapies for genetic and cardiovascular diseases. He brings with him a successful track record of R&D leadership, having built robust product pipelines and led the development of multiple advanced therapies for heart diseases. Matt is currently the President of an emerging biotechnology company, was previously the Chief Scientific Officer at Renovacor, prior to its acquisition by Rocket Pharmaceuticals, and founded BioMarin’s cardiovascular therapeutic area, serving as the Head of Cardiovascular Research. Matt has a background in cardiac electrophysiology and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Matt’s broad leadership and deep cardiovascular knowledge will support Carbon as we advance our novel, non-AAV parvovirus gene therapy vectors. We are thrilled to have him join our team; welcome to Carbon, Matt!

During the second day of the Longwood Healthcare Leaders 2024 Spring Conference, Joel Schneider joins fellow industry leaders, Carl Hansen, Arnaud Lacoste, PhD MBA, Al Sandrock, and Omar Abudayyeh on the panel “Identifying Next-Generation Therapeutics”, moderated by Lisa Ricciardi. As part of the Longwood Portfolio, and on behalf of the innovative work the Carbon Biosciences team is progressing, Joel is looking forward to sharing his perspective on drug discovery in the gene therapy field and discussing how to translate good science into meaningful medicines. 

On June 14th, Carbon’s CSO, Marc Abrams, will join other biopharma industry leaders at the 4th Annual Next Generation Gene Therapy Vectors Summit. Marc will be discussing Carbon’s novel approach to developing the next generation of gene therapy in his presentation “Beyond AAV: Unlocking the Potential of Gene Therapy with Novel Parvovirus Vectors”. This morning, Carbon published a press release highlighting two recent additions to our team: Carol Ann Satler, MD, PhD, FACC, FAHA, FAAP to the Board of Directors and Lloyd Klickstein to the Scientific Advisory Board.
