Congratulations to the team at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX for their success in saving 37-year-old Aaron Berlinger, who was admitted with a life-threatening infection in both lungs. The team gave Aaron a 30% chance of survival, but after several days on #ECMO, “it was clearly working. He was getting better and better," and is now on his way to a full recovery. The ProtekSolo Transseptal Cannula is an essential part of the TandemHeart kit. This cannula uses a unique LA-FA (Left Atrium-Femoral Artery) positioning which pulls oxygenated blood from the Left Atrium to the LifeSPARC Pump, bypassing the left ventricle. The oxygenated blood is returned to the Femoral Artery via the ProtekSolo Arterial cannula giving the heart time to rest and recover.
