We had a wonderful turnout at the Summer Job Fair on Tuesday, July 23, at the Howard Academy Community Center. Over 130 job candidates interviewed and talked with hiring businesses. Thank you to our partners the Marion County Hospital District and Community Home Project. And thank you for all of the businesses that attended including: Fidelity Mfg, Owens Corning, Chick-fil-A Ocala, Marion County Board of County Commissioners, Florida Department of Corrections, Empath Hospice of Marion County, HCA Florida Healthcare, Quad Nurse, SONIC Drive-In, Hilton Ocala, Champion Manufacturing, Kids Central, Inc.., AutoZone, AdventHealth, MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, McLane Company, Inc., Early Learning Coalition of Marion County Inc.

The jobless rate in the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion region was 4.5% in June, up 0.7 percentage point over the month [...]. Rusty Skinner, CareerSource CLM’s chief executive officer, noted that the bump in the jobless rate and number counted as unemployed is in line with what the region typically experiences moving into the summer months with seasonal shifts in education support and agriculture employment, as well as an influx of post-secondary students returning to the area looking for summer jobs before going back to school. “What we’re experiencing at this time of year is a typical summer slump; it is not unique to our region nor to any other area in Florida for that matter,” he said. “That doesn’t mean we take our foot off the gas; we know businesses are eager to hire which is why we strive to connect them with those looking for work.” Skinner pointed to two such opportunities: the Summer Job Fair that takes place Tuesday, July 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Howard Academy Community Center in Ocala, and the Citrus County Regional Job Fair set to take place at the College of Central Florida’s Citrus County Campus on Aug. 27. Summertime doesn’t have to be bummer time for those who believe their employment prospects are lukewarm at best. That’s because those prospects are set to heat up at the Summer Job Fair on Tuesday, July 23, from 5-7 p.m. at Howard Academy Community Center, 306 NW Seventh Ave., Building 3, in Ocala. The job fair is hosted by CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion in collaboration with the Marion County Hospital District and its Community Home Project in partnership with MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The Citrus County Government Hiring Event yesterday was a huge success! With over 100 candidates attending, it was a busy day for the hiring managers at the event. Thank you to the attending hiring organizations including: Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, Citrus County School District, Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, Citrus County Property Appraisers, and the Cotrus County Tax Collectors.

The jobless rate in the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion region was 3.8% in May, down 0.4 percentage point over the month [...] Rusty Skinner, CareerSource CLM’s chief executive officer, noted that labor force and employment numbers were down for all three counties in the region both in May and over the year. Because the data is not seasonally adjusted, Skinner said it could be school related. “Historically, we see contraction of the labor force and adjustments to the number of those employed as school support personnel leave for the summer,” he said. “At this time of year, there seems to be a bit of a tug-of-war between those temporarily stepping away from the labor force in late spring and early summer and those seeking seasonal employment, such as college students, or returning to the labor force full time.” Read the full news release: https://lnkd.in/eNyD5Qns #JoblessRate #CareerSourceCLM
