  • As a proud, longstanding partner of the DC Chamber of Commerce and community-driven healthcare organization with headquarters in the District, we were excited to join the chamber for their annual State of District & Region Conference. Our Executive Vice President, Ricardo Johnson, joined a panel of healthcare professionals from throughout the area to discuss the health challenges District communities are experiencing and the opportunities for growth. Along with the panel, the event explored the status and future of key priority areas for the District, such as economic development and education. Thank you to everyone who attended the conference and our fellow speakers. While we as a community accomplished much in 2024, we’re looking forward to how we can achieve more for the District in 2025. #CareFirstCares

  • In preparation for #WorldMentalHealthDay, we joined with the Foundation for the Preservation of Government House of Maryland and Maryland First Lady Dawn Moore to support families, students and caregivers at the “School’s in Session” event. The event brought together community organizations and nonprofit partners such as Safe Kids Worldwide, Port Discovery, Art Farm Studios and Teens with Trauma to discuss how we can effectively support the mental health of youth and those who care for them. Throughout the event, youth and caregivers engaged in wellness activities and heard from mental health professionals and youth advocates to better understand what mental health looks like from childhood to adulthood. We’re looking forward to working with our partners again to help enable better support for Maryland’s youth! #CareFirstCares

  • To meet our members and community where they are and when they need us, we partnered with Fabric Health. With Fabric Health, we’re connecting with our community in establishments they frequent, laundromats. Our bilingual onsite guides engage with patrons about health services available to them, helping them overcome a significant barrier to good health—awareness. When people are informed about available health resources, they’re more likely to maintain their health and avoid unnecessary emergency room visits. • In 2021, the Surgeon General announced a public health emergency for the mental and behavioral health of youth and young adults. The pandemic brought to light and exacerbated existing challenges in the behavioral health space. Post-pandemic, our youth and young adults, even older adults, are still experiencing detrimental behavioral health challenges and disparities that must be addressed. These challenges cannot be solved by one organization alone. It will take the combined resources and expertise of the industry and community to effectively tackle this situation. That’s why we gathered local experts from Inova Health, VHC Health, CloseKnit, Arlington Public Schools, Arlington Free Clinic and Northern Virginia Community College's Medical Education Campus for our Northern Virginia Community Health Forum. At the Forum, our experts discussed current trends and challenges in behavioral health along with potential solutions for the toughest challenges patients are facing. This is one of many conversations we’re excited to have to better align resources and business decisions that strategically support the health and wellness of our community. We’re looking forward to connecting with our experts and partners on these solutions soon. #CareFirstCares

  • We’re cheering on the Baltimore Orioles today as they take on the Kansas City Royals in their first game of the MLB Postseason. The Orioles are an outstanding team on and off the field. Thanks to their partnership, we’ve made a meaningful impact in our communities by addressing food insecurity and increasing job opportunities with The Food Project. Good luck, O’s! • Access to mental health resources is crucial for everyone, but especially in communities where social drivers of health cause barriers to getting care. This Hispanic Heritage Month and all year long, we prioritize partnerships with organizations like Identity, Inc. who are dedicated to providing vital behavioral health resources for Latino youth. Thanks to WRC-TV (NBC4 Washington) in Washington, D.C. for helping us spotlight the incredible work they’re doing. Watch the video to learn more. #HispanicHeritageMonth #CareFirstCares

  • The opening of our West Baltimore location is right around the corner! Later this fall, we will welcome the West Baltimore community to our new space, which includes an engagement center designed for residents to explore and access health resources. This space will also serve as the new hub for our ongoing workforce development initiatives, enabling us to expand wraparound support services aimed at eliminating barriers to meaningful employment. Additionally, it will provide workspace for employees and programs that foster community engagement, all dedicated to creating opportunities for city residents. #CareFirstCares
