October is Health Literacy Month—and as it turns out, more than 1 in 3 adults have trouble reading and understanding health information.(1) That means a large portion of the population is struggling to understand who to call or where to go when they need care, all of which can negatively impact health and well-being. That's where Humana comes in. We are simplifying and clarifying health information for our members and patients by providing tools and resources that help everyone better navigate the healthcare system. Because we know that health literacy and health equity go hand in hand. Learn more about these efforts in this year's Humana Impact Report: https://huma.na/3TIsRdP. #HealthLiteracy #HealthLiteracyMonth Source (1) "Health Literacy," https://huma.na/4efl27A, 2024, accessed August 14, 2024 https://huma.na/3TI9Rft

We believe everyone has a unique path to live their healthiest life—which is why we don’t offer one-size-fits-all coverage. With almost 800 individual Medicare Advantage plans offered across the country in 2025, Humana is focused on providing our members the ability to choose the plan that works best for their budget and lifestyle. “Our members have told us what benefits really matter to them. We listened and created affordable health plans that offer high-quality care and align with what they want and need,” said George Renaudin, Humana’s President of Medicare and Medicaid. A native of New Mexico, John De La Torre, Humana MarketPoint National Sales Director, said, "When I think about my Hispanic Heritage, I think about family, faith, hard work, relationships, providing for our children, a sense of belonging and spiritual connection." John found a sense of belonging and opportunities to expand his knowledge as a member of Unidos, Humana's network resource group for Hispanic and Latinx employees. "Unidos helps me develop and grow to become the best version of myself," said John. "With leadership support, job flexibility and tuition reimbursement, Humana gave me the opportunity and ability to go back to school and pursue a degree in the medical field." The advanced degree helps John improve the quality of life for his son who lives with a rare health condition. It also helps him to better understand and serve the needs of our members. Earlier this week, Humana CEO Jim Rechtin joined Better Medicare Alliance President and CEO Mary Beth Donahue at the 2024 Leadership and Policy Forum in Washington, D.C. They covered the current state of the Medicare Advantage and emphasized its value, outcomes and cost savings for seniors, alongside the need for collaboration with policymakers. During the discussion, Jim stressed the importance of research and data to drive better care, highlighting a recent first-of-its-kind study uncovering the health benefits of senior-focused primary care—recently published by the Humana Healthcare Research team in collaboration with Harvard University.
