Did you know that nearly a century ago, the U.S. Post Office issued the first airmail routes to private airlines through the Contract Air Mail Act of 1925? The Act enabled payments to airlines based on the weight of the mail they carried, with the USPS also providing a subsidy to help cover operational losses as aircraft technology improved. Just a year later, Congress passed the Air Commerce Act of 1926, establishing the Aeronautics Branch of the Commerce Department—what we know today as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This laid the groundwork for the modern commercial aviation industry we rely on today! Learn More: https://lnkd.in/e2NVqSEQ
