Did you know we recently opened CarMax's 250th store in Visalia, CA? This brings our total number of stores in California to 33, which happens to be the state with the most CarMax stores overall. Since opening our doors in 1993, we have been dedicated to putting people first, including our associates, customers, and communities, a commitment that continues in CarMax's Visalia store. This past Saturday, we lost a civil rights icon and unwavering advocate of education and justice, Judge L. Clifford Davis. During CarMax’s recent KABOOM! playground build at Clifford Davis Elementary in Fort Worth, some of our Texas associates had the privilege of meeting him. As we honor Black History Month, we reflect on the profound impact of leaders like Judge Davis and the importance of uplifting our communities. Jeff Hall, our Regional VP of Service Operations and The CarMax Foundation President, said, “Sharing that moment with Judge Davis gave me a renewed sense of pride in the community work we do at CarMax. Witnessing firsthand how our value of Putting People First can create lasting change in our local communities was a powerful reminder of the impact we can have together.”

More than 20 dedicated associates from CarMax gathered in partnership with The Mission Continues to revitalize the communal space at CloudBreak Community in Houston, TX. Volunteers worked together to rake and mulch the green areas and refresh the communal room, breathing new life into the complex. A huge thank you to everyone involved and to The Mission Continues for their ongoing support in creating a positive impact! 💚

Recently, Shaun Doumak, purchasing manager at the Burbank, CA store, was nominated and surprised with a special celebration for the birth of his twins. Shaun's regional team went above and beyond by assembling and delivering a Step2 Side-by-Side Push Around SUV to his home, reinforcing our commitment to celebrating our associates' milestones. CarMax's Chief Information and Technology Officer, Shamim Mohammad, NACD.DC, recently spoke with Forbes contributor Steven Norton to share how CarMax is leveraging AI to enhance the car-buying experience, including with the virtual assistant, Skye. Launched in 2020, Skye blends AI technology with a human touch, helping customers find vehicle details and navigate financing options. “Tools like Skye give us a jump start while allowing our staff to pick up where it leaves off,” said Shamim Mohammad.
