SSA Marine MIT has added six new electrified automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) to its operations, increasing the terminal’s efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. “One of the main benefits of these automated cranes is their energy efficiency. They consume less energy than previous equipment and are designed to minimize CO2 emissions," said Manuel A. Pinzón, General Manager of SSA Marine MIT. “This renovation is aligned with our commitment to reduce environmental impact and move towards a more sustainable port, which not only benefits the operation itself, but also the community and the environment. We are thrilled to share that Western Group has rebranded as SSA Marine Canada. Western has worked closely with all of us at SSA Marine since joining the Carrix family of companies in 2006, and we couldn’t be more excited that these two organizations are now together under one brand name, further unifying our North American operations in service to our customers.

Our acquisition of Ceres Terminals and its subsequent integration into SSA Marine has expanded our footprint in North America in several ways, including leading to the launch of our dedicated SSA Marine cruise division earlier this year. This new division builds on the strong foundation that our talented team of terminal operators have established with our cruise line customers and port authorities and provides a platform for future growth opportunities.

Fantastic morning with the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority team at their Port Spotlight Session on cruise operations at Canada Place. The panel included representatives from SSA Marine, VFPA, Canadian Border Service Agency, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, each highlighting their role in ensuring passenger safety and smooth terminal operations. The key takeaway: strong collaboration and relationships among all partners are essential for driving innovation and delivering the best cruise experience.

Mitchell Mann's career at Tideworks began uniquely. He started as a remote intern at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the initial hurdles, Mitchell's passion for data solutions and his proactive approach allowed him to quickly contribute to key customer projects. Today, he's a pivotal member of our data platform product scrum team and manages Tideworks’ agile estimation process company-wide.
