Witness the power and precision of the “Rotterdam Express”: from 23.8 knots (44 km/h) to a complete stop in just 12 minutes and 9 seconds during the impressive "Crash Astern" maneuver 🚢 - one of the standout moments of a highly successful sea and gas trial off the coast of South Korea! 🌊 ✅ This trial marks a major milestone in welcoming the 10th vessel of our “Hamburg Express” class into the fleet. Keeping global trade secure – one lashing at a time! ⚓📦 #Lashing is the essential method used to secure containers on a vessel. By using twist locks, rods, and turnbuckles, containers are held firmly in place to prevent movement during a voyage – even in rough seas. 🌊 Strong and reliable lashing is critical to ensuring that cargo reaches its destination safely. On large container ships, thousands of connections are made to keep stacks of containers stable, making lashing a vital part of everyday operations. The International Maritime Organization recommends this general rule of thumb when it comes to lashing/securing cargo for sea transport: The total MSL (Maximum Safe Load) of the securing devices on each side of a unit of cargo (port as well as starboard) should be equal to the weight of the unit. ⚖️ Did you know? A single container stack on a vessel can rise over 10 stories high! Have you ever seen a container stack this high? Share your experience in the comments below!👇 #HapagLloyd #Shipping #ContainerShipping #NauticalTerms
