    From our cofounder, Emilio Buitrago

I would like to share my Op-Ed published at the prestigious The Philadelphia Inquirer. For Venezuelans in the U.S., the recent election was not just a political event but a pivotal moment. As the dust of the election settles, Casa de Venezuela cofounder Emilio Buitrago writes that sentiment among the diaspora is a mix of cautious optimism, hope, and frustration with the Maduro regime. https://lnkd.in/euAV3nuT Thank you Sabrina Vourvoulias for inspiring me to write about the sentiment of the venezuelan diaspora across the world.

Personal Finances Workshop (in Spanish) A personal finance workshop can be immensely valuable for new immigrants for several reasons: Understanding Financial Systems: Many immigrants come from countries with different financial systems. A workshop can help them understand how finances work in their new country, including banking, taxes, credit systems, and investment opportunities. Budgeting Skills: Learning how to budget effectively is crucial for managing finances and living within one's means. Immigrants may need guidance on creating a budget that accounts for their new expenses, such as rent, utilities, transportation, and healthcare. Building Credit History: Establishing a good credit history is essential for accessing financial products like loans and credit cards. Immigrants may not have a credit history in their new country, so a workshop can provide tips on how to build credit responsibly. Navigating Legal and Financial Systems: Immigrants may encounter legal and financial challenges unique to their status, such as obtaining work permits or understanding tax obligations for non-citizens. A workshop can provide guidance on navigating these systems and accessing available resources. Planning for the Future: Immigrants often have specific financial goals, such as buying a home, sending money to family abroad, or saving for their children's education. A workshop can help them understand their options and create a plan to achieve their goals. Protecting Against Scams and Fraud: Immigrants may be unfamiliar with common financial scams or may be targeted due to language barriers or unfamiliarity with local laws. A workshop can educate them on how to recognize and avoid scams, protect their personal information, and access resources if they become victims of fraud. Overall, a personal finance workshop can empower new immigrants to make informed financial decisions, navigate their new financial landscape confidently, and work towards achieving their financial goals in their adopted country. Join Us, los esperamos. If you want Casa de Venezuela to do more of this type of workshops, please consider becoming a sponsor or making a fully tax-deductible contribution. Here is the link:
