The Edison: the building is modeled to perform at 27% better than ASHRAE 2010 baselines, and with the PV array the performance cost savings are 37%. In other words and as a reasonable projection, the building should have about 1/3 reduction in energy compared to a typical building of its type/size.  Energy and Atmosphere 21 LEED points. We are grateful for the likeminded people on this team which enabled the project to flourish, with everyone working towards the goal of responsible design for The Edison. COLOR! Great progress on Sierra Flats Buildings 1 & 2! ️ Though not finished, the exterior finish materials with stucco, metal panels, siding, and fiber cement panels are taking shape, giving a glimpse of the final design. Hardscaping and landscaping are next! Meanwhile, framing is moving along on Buildings 3 & 4. We're pushing to complete the roof framing on Building 3. The detention pond in front might not be pretty now, but it will become a stunning water feature once the landscaping is finished. Who says affordable housing can't be beautiful, well-designed, and cost-effective? #CarsonCity #SierraFlats #AffordableHousing

Coming in 2025, this 6,250 sq. ft. single-family residence in Mammoth Lakes, CA, has an interesting story behind it. The original home located on this site had a catastrophic explosion last winter due to the record snow and a propane leak. Thankfully, nobody was home or injured, but there was nothing left of the owner's home of 40 years.  Given their deep attachment to the original home, the owners wanted to pay homage to the original design while elevating it into the 21st century. The residence sits on a steep ski-in-ski-out site with vast eastern and southern views. We wanted to capture these views while still keeping the home humble to the onlooker. Precise thought has been put into the exterior materials, integrating a solar façade on the south-facing wall to capture as much of the sun as possible. The use of Shou-Sugi-Ban cladding and live-edge cedar create an interesting contrast while grounding the home to the site. We are thrilled with the progress of this project and can't wait to see it through to fruition.

After a bit of a weather delay, Sierra Flats continues to move forward with the installation of the exterior finish materials on buildings #1 and #2 in PHASE-I. Rough framing is close to being wrapped up on buildings #3 and #4 in PHASE-II. Soon we’ll begin to see the final colors of the finish materials on Bldg. 1. We can’t wait for the scaffolding to be removed so we can begin to see how the finished buildings are really going to look!
