Promoting the dignity and protecting the rights of immigrants for more than 30 years
About us
The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., has been on the cutting edge of training nonprofit immigration legal service providers to provide affordable, quality legal representation to immigrants since its founding in 1988. Today the network includes more than 450 nonprofit organizations in 49 states. The network includes faith-based institutions, farmworker programs, domestic violence shelters, ethnic community-focused organizations, libraries and other entities that serve immigrants. Agencies in the network employ thousands accredited representatives and attorneys who, in turn, serve hundreds of thousands of low-income immigrants each year. CLINIC and its affiliate agencies represent low-income immigrants without regard for their race, religion, gender, ethnic group or other distinguishing characteristics. As it has throughout its history, CLINIC continues to react adeptly to rapid changes in the world of immigration law and policy. With a robust response to recent threats to vulnerable populations, CLINIC prepares its members to meet growing demands for legal screening, protection from deportation, adjustments of status and naturalization as citizens. CLINIC’s staff is based in our national office in Silver Spring, Maryland, with another dozen field offices across the United States. CLINIC’s work focuses on five core areas: advocacy, capacity building, national partnerships, religious immigration services, and training and legal support. As the largest charitable legal immigration network in the nation, CLINIC provides substantive legal and program management training and resources, as well as advocacy support at state, local and national levels. We train nearly 10,000 people each year on immigration-related topics. CLINIC also has a team of immigration attorneys who specialize in religious worker immigration law, assisting Catholic archdioceses, dioceses and religious communities to navigate this complex area of law.

As we celebrate #NationalMigrationWeek and #WDMR2024, our executive director, Anna Gallagher, invites you to see migrants and refugees as "contemporary icons" that reveal the divine to us. Read more at National Catholic Reporter: https://lnkd.in/e-Sq366S
"In his poignant message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2024, Pope Francis reminds us, 'God walks with his people.' A Vatican website about the Sept. 29 observation characterizes migrants as a 'contemporary icon of God's people on a journey' and urges us to encounter the divine in the vulnerable among us. As someone who has dedicated my life to serving immigrants, this message resonates to my core. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with countless individuals who embody courage, resilience and hope — qualities that reflect God's presence in them, as bearers of God's image. At the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), we daily encounter stories that reveal the profound dignity and the humanity of migrants and refugees."

We’re thrilled to unveil Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC)'s new logo and brand—a vibrant and modern reinterpretation of our identity that beautifully encapsulates our mission and values. Rooted in the artistry of stained-glass windows and mosaics often found in Catholic churches, our new logo symbolizes faith, community, and resilience. These elements resonate deeply with CLINIC’s commitment to advocating for immigrants and refugees, guided by the Catholic social teachings of solidarity and the dignity of every human person. At the heart of our new design is a stylized torch, inspired by the Statue of Liberty, symbolizing light, safety, and hope—core ideals that have always guided our work. This torch serves as a beacon for those seeking a new beginning in America, reflecting our unwavering dedication to providing support and advocacy for the vulnerable and marginalized. Our refreshed logo also embraces a universally recognized symbol by featuring only our acronym, CLINIC, aligning with how we are known and enhancing our visibility and recognition. The colors in our logo celebrate the American experience, honoring the diverse communities we serve and the contributions of immigrants and refugees. These shades evoke the serious nature of our work while conveying a dynamic, modern, and approachable image. This new design is not just a rebranding; it’s a powerful statement of our enduring commitment to justice, compassion, and the transformative power of solidarity. As we continue our mission, we are proud to carry this symbol forward, honoring our Catholic roots and our dedication to the cause of immigrants and refugees. Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we can continue to bring hope and light to those who need it most. #NewLogo #ImmigrationAdvocacy #CatholicSocialTeaching #Solidarity #NonprofitLeadership #BrandRefresh

The bread and butter of CLINIC’s work is training in immigration law for practitioners serving low-income immigrants. As we close out our 35th anniversary year, read about the history of CLINIC’s training team as it grew from a small group of dedicated attorneys, to a department supporting the largest network of nonprofit legal service orgs in the country. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eAFkxx2e

When Natalia met and married Juan, a Cuban man, while they were university students in her home country of Russia, she had no idea the journey she was embarking on. After moving with him to Cuba, learning Spanish, and raising her children in this new country, economic hardship prompted the family to seek to immigrate again to the United States.
