✏️ The Secret to Complex Animation? It’s All About Tool Integration Relying on a single tool for complex animation is like trying to paint a masterpiece with just one color. Each program—After Effects, Cinema 4D, Cavalry—brings something unique to the table, but it’s the magic of combining them that unlocks true creative potential. A seamless workflow where 3D depth meets procedural precision and polished compositing, allowing us to bring even the most intricate stories to life. Mastering the interplay between tools is what makes the difference between “good enough” and “exceptional.” It’s not just about knowing how to animate; it’s about knowing how to blend, sync, and elevate each element to create an experience. #MotionDesign #Motion #Animation #AfterEffects #Cinema4D #Cavalry #CreativeWorkflow

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about Cavalry—but I’ll admit, I wasn’t entirely sure I was ready to learn a new animation software. After all, After Effects has been my go-to for client projects for years. But a recent episode of the School of Motion podcast convinced me to give it a shot. And I’m so glad I did! This tool just clicked with me right away. It’s incredibly fun to use and has a unique workflow that feels intuitive and fresh. While Cavalry won’t replace After Effects in my toolkit, I can see myself using them side by side on future projects. To test it out, I’ve been animating some old Penguin and Pelican book covers from the '60s and '70s. The graphic designs from that era are perfect for dynamic animations—take a look at my latest creation below! #Animation #MotionDesign #Cavalry #AfterEffects #BookDesign #MotionGraphics #MotionLovers #CavalryApp

Great to see Cavalry's simple yet powerful Sound Behaviour used here to create animation from audio without any keyframes.

These sound waves were made in Cavalry. To have this level of control connecting design to sound is something that I've always dreamt of doing. It's great when seemingly impossible things become possible; so I'm glad it's now very possible. Creating and visualizing custom sound waves for a podcast or to match any branded content has never been more controllable.

Latest on the 🎙️ Podcast! I sat down with Ian Waters from Cavalry to talk about #Motion, Conceptual #Design, #Software Development and more. 🎙️ Check out the Podcast → https://lnkd.in/ewCPfFaP 🍿 Watch on YouTube → https://lnkd.in/ei4Svend To be building a new motion design tool at this time is really interesting to me. Motion has changed so much over the last 10 years and while the major tools like #AfterEffects have kept up - it's hard to radically change the core concepts within your tools. But what if you could you start again? What if you could look at how motion is being done today, and re-engineer all of that from the ground up. Well.. that is what Cavalry are doing — and I find it fascinating! Next time on the podcast (hopefully 🤞) will be Hayley Akins... Can't wait.

On the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology graphic design course we love motion graphics. In Y2 we run a short intro to kenetic typography. Type in motion is super interesting for designers regarding communication, branding, experience, etc. This year, we jumped to Cavalry with engaging, fun results. Its familiar UI with a layer of creative coding concepts underneath is an intuitive playful environment to work in. The students did great; check out a few snippets of the results below. Looking forward to bringing it into more of our motion design modules and see what it can do! #cavalryapp #motiondesign #motiongraphics

Hey guys, oh I missed you, Linkedin! It’s been a while since my last post here and I’ve been so happy to see an explosion in amount of people learning Cavalry. I know, I know, it’s not replacing Adobe just yet, and probably not supposed to, but it’s amazing that more people realising how powerful this software is and starting to integrate it into their workflow. So yay! And before I start posting my new projects and personal experiments I wanted to share this one from a while back. Sometimes when I don’t have ideas or I’m feeling stuck, the solution is to take the “result” part of the process out of the equation. Since I still have a lot of unexplored parts of the software I think “Ok, today I’m going to study this behaviour, and I’m going to figure out every possibility it has to offer, that’s it, no goal, and no need to post any result”. As it happened with this animation I wasn’t looking to create anything specific but rather learn how particles work in Cavalry. It started with some simple simulations and tweaking particle values to see what it could do. But once you cover the basics and understand how everything works, the ideas of how to mix it up with the other behaviours just start to appear. And so I’ve added trails, threw in some colors and there we go. I have a tutorial on how to do the spiral animation (in the top right corner) on my YouTube and if you are wondering how to make it work with the typography shapes my advice is to look into a goal modifier 😉 Maybe someday I’ll record a part 2 of this tutorial explaining the typography part, who knows. - https://lnkd.in/ggkfpMyF Did you jump into Cavalry yet? If yes, what was the final push? And if not, what’s stopping you? #cavalryapp #motiongraphics #motion #particles #motiondesign #experiments
