Hey guys, oh I missed you, Linkedin! It’s been a while since my last post here and I’ve been so happy to see an explosion in amount of people learning Cavalry. I know, I know, it’s not replacing Adobe just yet, and probably not supposed to, but it’s amazing that more people realising how powerful this software is and starting to integrate it into their workflow. So yay!
And before I start posting my new projects and personal experiments I wanted to share this one from a while back.
Sometimes when I don’t have ideas or I’m feeling stuck, the solution is to take the “result” part of the process out of the equation. Since I still have a lot of unexplored parts of the software I think “Ok, today I’m going to study this behaviour, and I’m going to figure out every possibility it has to offer, that’s it, no goal, and no need to post any result”.
As it happened with this animation I wasn’t looking to create anything specific but rather learn how particles work in Cavalry. It started with some simple simulations and tweaking particle values to see what it could do. But once you cover the basics and understand how everything works, the ideas of how to mix it up with the other behaviours just start to appear. And so I’ve added trails, threw in some colors and there we go.
I have a tutorial on how to do the spiral animation (in the top right corner) on my YouTube and if you are wondering how to make it work with the typography shapes my advice is to look into a goal modifier 😉 Maybe someday I’ll record a part 2 of this tutorial explaining the typography part, who knows. - https://lnkd.in/ggkfpMyF
Did you jump into Cavalry yet? If yes, what was the final push? And if not, what’s stopping you?
