CBIA's Chris DiPentima tells The Hartford Courant companies are growing increasingly cautious as trade tensions rise. “They’re still moving ahead with their business, but maybe not as aggressively as they have in the past, whether that’s with capital investments, equipment investments, and hiring levels. They’re waiting for this stuff to settle so they can understand what the new norm is, what the new rules are, and figure out how those rules affect their business.” #connecticut #economy #trade #exports #tariffs

“The uncertainty and the quickness of these decisions is driving that unpredictability,” CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima tells Boston Globe Media about the uncertainty surrounding the Trump administration’s trade policies. “There’s no runway to properly prepare at all.” #trade #economy #tariffs

The legislature’s General Law Committee unanimously approved a bill to cap a range of occupations licensing fees. CBIA’s Christopher Davis says the cost for licensing is a barrier to entry for many Connecticut residents and this legislation “makes Connecticut a more attractive place to work, a necessary factor to keep Connecticut’s economic momentum moving in a positive direction.” #workforce #Connecticut #regulatoryreform #reimagineCT

“Adding additional fees or taxes on small businesses—and ultimately consumers—does not improve the cost of doing business or living in Connecticut, but instead does the opposite,” CBIA’s Paul Amarone told lawmakers considering a 28-cent retail delivery tax. The tax will place “an additional burden on customers who are already coping with inflation and the rising cost of living,” adds Connecticut Restaurant Association’s Scott Dolch. #Connecticut #affordability #taxes #smallbusiness #reimagineCT
