Thank you to the team from Donaldson for serving dinner at Dorothy Day Place recently! Our committed volunteers are a huge reason why Catholic Charities Twin Cities was able to serve more than 1,000,000 meals to our Twin Cities neighbors last year. Congratulation, Kimberly Osborn!
Thirty years ago, Kim Osborn joined the Northside Child Development Center at Catholic Charities Twin Cities as a classroom teacher and has led the center for the past 17 years with passion, care and humility. Kim grew Northside into a cornerstone of the neighborhood and a refuge for children and their families who often face difficult challenges. At the CCUSA Annual Gathering last month, Kim received the 2024 Bishop Joseph M. Sullivan Award and shared a beautiful reflection on her work and the meaning of home. Thank you for your incredible contributions, Kim, and congratulations!

(3/3) Living in community at St. Anthony Residence means relying on neighbors and staff to get needs met. For Aaron, a longtime housepainter, referrals to local gig from his neighbors at St. Anthony Residence has helped him stay afloat more than once. For Joe, simply having basic needs met with meals, his own room, and a hobby to keep his mind occupied has helped him progress. “I moved back up to the Twin Cities when my mom got sick,” he said, “I was so glad to find a place to live here and thankful to be with her when she passed.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/3zTzFyR

(2/3) “In 2013 I was hospitalized with blood clots in my right lung . . . and I had to choose between drinking and living,” Paul said. “Living here doesn’t mean you can’t drink, but it is a place you can find support.” St. Anthony Residence is a place for people who haven’t found success in traditional chemical dependency treatment programs. Unlike residential treatment facilities, sobriety is not required to live at St. Anthony Residence. Learn more about harm reduction at St Anthony Residence: https://bit.ly/3zTzFyR

(1/3) Paul, Aaron, and Joe live on the third floor at Catholic Charities St. Anthony Residence in St. Paul — a permanent housing program for men with chronic alcohol substance use disorder. The three men are neighbors in the building, and met because of their proximity to each other, but what brought them together is their interest in puzzles. “Third floor is kind of the puzzle floor,” they say, “that’s what we’re known for.” Paul, Joe, and Aaron all came to St. Anthony Residence to access affordable housing, like many of the building’s residents. Joe is the newest tenant — he moved into the building about a year and a half ago. Paul has lived at St. Anthony Residence since 2010, and Aaron since 2015. Despite their different ages and backgrounds, a love for puzzles helped them form a community. Aaron says, “It gets us out of our rooms, gives us something to talk about, you know? It’s something to do that we can all work towards together.” Find their full story here: https://bit.ly/3zTzFyR

“Hennepin’s model is not about just one solution—it’s about everything working together. Their system includes legal representation, outreach in homeless encampments, housing case management, and shelters that offer dignity and pathways to permanent housing. Hennepin County isn’t just warehousing people—they’re investing in long-term, sustainable solutions like transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent supportive housing."
