This week is #InternationalMacaqueWeek- a week dedicated to raising awareness about a persecuted group of primates. Macaques are the most common non-human primates used in research and testing. As a result of the use of these animals, the long-tailed and southern pig-tailed macaque populations have declined between 40-50% over the past few decades. #endangeredspecies #animaltesting #animalresearch #nonhumanprimates #animalexperimentation #wildlifetrade #macaque #wildlifeconservation

About us
Saving and improving lives by catalyzing the world’s transition to human-specific medical research. Human biology-based methods offer a more effective way to understand the diseases that afflict us. And they enable researchers to predict how a human may respond to medicines and chemicals with far greater accuracy than animal tests. The outcome is better treatments, therapies, and cures. CCS is pioneering a paradigm shift towards innovative, evidence-based research methods that are based on human biology. Through collaboration, we champion technologies that are better for humans and that replace animal testing.

Researchers at Tsinghua University are working on lung cancer assembloids from cells derived from patients’ tumors that can accurately mimic the clinical outcomes of patients. The lung cancer assembloids “reproduce the molecular, cellular, and functional diversity of the original tumors…” and shows the potential of the #cancer assembled being able to predict #personalizedtreatments. https://lnkd.in/ge58eXqk #biomedicalresearch #organoids #lungcancer #tumor #humanrelevant #humanbiology #biotechnology

Chief Scientific Officer at Alto Predict | Human In Vitro Assays & Disease Models | Expert in Non-Animal Alternatives | Ask me how FAIR data from in vitro NAMs is transforming drug discovery and safety testing
Faster adoption of alternatives to animals in biomedical research is a worthy goal for both scientific and ethical reasons. Addressing key elements of technology readiness for cell-based alternatives (in vitro NAMs or New Approach Methodologies) will help get these tools out of research and into the hands of users. Check out my article for recommendations to speed the process. #drugdiscovery #NAMs #biomedicalresearch #innovation

"In the landscape of biomedical research, computational models are more than just a technological evolution—they are a paradigm shift. By integrating the digital with the biological, the theoretical with the practical, they enable us to envision and engineer solutions that were once thought impossible." CCS President Florina Gobel expounds on how computational models could help move the needle forward for #biomedical research, #drugdiscovery, #drugtesting, and #humanrelevantresearch. https://lnkd.in/gPezbeAc #insilico #humanrelevantresearch #computermodels #research #biotechnology #science #computationalmodeling #biopharma

In March Congress passed the FY2024 Appropriations bills. These bills along with their accompanying report language included some wins for animals and human-relevant research. In our most recent blog post, Public Policy Manager, Mikalah Singer, discusses some of these wins and CCS' role in having the report language included. https://lnkd.in/g4Nv_rwi #appropriations #policy #animalfreeresearch #humanrelevantresearch #publichealth #humanhealth #epa #fda #zoonoticdisease
