We are the Center for Transportation Research (CTR) at The University of Texas at Austin. Our mission: collaborate, innovate, and educate. A multidisciplinary and multimodal research institute, CTR is recognized as one of the leading university-based transportation research centers in the world. Our researchers, faculty members, and students work together to promote cutting-edge developments in transportation science and technology. Expertise and funded projects include topics such as economics, multimodal systems, traffic congestion relief, transportation policy, freight and rail, materials, bridges and structures, public transit, environmental impacts, driver behavior, and accessibility. In a given year, CTR administers between 150 and 200 research projects and interagency contracts with combined budgets exceeding $12 million. Research includes projects for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), Transportation Research Board (TRB), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Rail Administration (FRA), Department of Homeland Security, City of Austin, Capital Metro, Capital Area Metropolitan Planning and Operations (CAMPO), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and many others. The CTR Library houses and administers the TxDOT Research Library: the official depository of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Cooperative Research Program. Our library supports the information needs of the Research and Technology Implementation Division of TxDOT. The collection contains over 27,000 print and electronic transportation-related reports from different agencies (FHWA, AASHTO, TRB, state-level transportation agencies, City of Austin, and more), specializing in Texas transportation. Free full-text links are provided for over 60% of the collection, including most TxDOT research publications.

Great news for The University of Texas at Austin! 🎉 Our team took first place at the 7th Annual Asphalt Road-eo 2024 competition organized by Texas Asphalt Pavement Association! The students were Thomas Drefs, Gary Simmons, Emma Davis, and James Savage from the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. The Road-eo is an engineering competition that challenges undergraduate students to design and create a specific asphalt slab. The competition tests the slabs for safety, durability, and innovation. Students also present their designs to a panel of judges. This is a great way for students to learn about the asphalt pavement industry, which is important for the country's infrastructure. Thrilled to announce that I successfully defended my dissertation this past Friday! My dissertation, titled "Enhancing Active Transportation Safely," explores field observations and perspectives regarding active transportation control devices, and dives into methodology for forecasting demands. Shoutout to Miro for making the creation of my presentation slide deck such a breeze! If you’ve worked closely with me, you know I’m a Miro Evangelist. Huge thanks to my fantastic supervisor Randy Machemehl, P.E. and wonderful committee members Christian Claudel, Amit Bhasin, and Matt Hersh for their guidance and support throughout this journey. Wish my Dad John Baumanis was here to see this dream come true, but I know he was standing by my side this whole time and is proud of me from above 👼🏻 🕊️. UT Austin Grad Students Master Storytelling in Academics! Graduate students at UT Austin honed their storytelling skills thanks to the "Infusing Storytelling into Academic Life" workshop series. Funded by the Texas Career Engagement | The University of Texas at Austin (TCE) Reimagining Professional Development Awards, the program attracted 40 participants from various disciplines. Led by AliMurtaza Kothawala, Tharan Suresh and Rajvi Agravat the workshops delved into 📝The ABT (And, But, Therefore) framework which breaks storytelling down into a clear structure: start with facts ('And'), introduce a problem ('But'), and conclude with a resolution ('Therefore').
