I’m coming up for air and want to share about my experience at the Transportation Research Board 2nd Conference on Advancing Transportation Equity in Baltimore, Maryland. First, I got to volunteer and facilitate sessions at the Unconference and it was AMAZING! I heard from passionate and intelligent individuals doing work on equity and got to talk about equity case studies, program design, and politics in equity. Also, these people gave me life! 👏🏽 I found other people like me with different backgrounds and disciplines who have decided to take up this torch. I never heard the word “interdisciplinary” used so much. 😎❤️📚📝👩💻 Thank you to the TRB Comittee on Equity in Transportation #AME10 for putting on this conference. I hope we can continue to share our ideas and research for many years to come. The collage of photos are just a few of the amazing presentations and posters from the conference.

This session was spurred from U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's #TRBAM session on new materials. If you missed it the first time or just need a refresher, it's a great watch! https://lnkd.in/ebghS6JT
At recent White House Convenings to Boost Clean Manufacturing: U.S. Department of Transportation's Robert C. Hampshire moderated a panel at a first-of-its-kind Concrete Innovation Summit, hosted by leaders from the White House to highlight progress to reduce emissions, accelerate commercialization of new clean technologies, and build the momentum of increasing customer demand for higher performance and lower emission products. Looking forward to #TRBAutomated this year in San Diego--next week! I'm helping to organize another war game, so if you'll be there, come to Session 104 on Monday to game out how to make AVs a win-win for developers and the cities that host them.

Last week, I had the opportunity to present at the Transportation Research Board's 2nd Annual Conference on Advancing #Transportation #Equity the community engagement work done so far for the #ReimaginetheCrossBronx Study with my colleague Nina Spellman from the New York City Department of Transportation. Our presentation was part of the Equitable Community Engagement Panel with Liz Williams, Ph.D., Ph.D, Amy O'Hara, AICP, Hally Turner, AICP, and Jesus M. Barajas, where we discussed community-centered engagement strategies, partnership programs with Community-Based Organizations, and challenges to advancing #communityengagement and #mobilityjustice. This relevant and timely conference brought together government agencies, industry, academia, and community partners to discuss in-depth and share knowledge to continue advancing #transportationequity. Below are a few calls for action discussed among the multiple sessions that deeply resonated with me and our work. - People are not numbers; communities must be at the center of each project. - Transportation Equity impacts everyone's daily life, and an equity lens in investment prioritization is necessary. - Advancing Equity is a journey. Let's own where we are, keep learning, aim high, and share our successes and failures to continue. - We are all tasked with continuing to improve and implement equity indices, "equity checks," enhanced user-related data, and integrating quantitative and qualitative data in our analysis, evaluations, and decision-making processes. Looking forward to the conference report and continuing the conversation with my community and colleagues! #aecom, Claire Still, MPH, ENV SP, Victoria (Vic) Blackwell, PE, ENV SP, Tatum Lau, AICP, ENV SP Keyleigh Kern Neil Jean-Baptiste II, EIT Jiaxu Zhou, PTP, LEED AP #mobility #environmentaljustice #transportationequity #TRB More information about the Equitable Community Engagement Panel: https://lnkd.in/ggWEfixp Learn more about Reimagine the Cross Bronx here: http://nyc.gov/crossbronx

Today is the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. To celebrate this monumental legislation, we hope some of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's and TRB's resources on the topic can help further progress. https://ow.ly/yLMP50SK7j0
