  • We are hiring! Central Electric Power Cooperative is currently accepting applications for the position of Journeyman or Apprentice Relay Technician. Individuals interested in this position should have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronics or related technology degree. This position will require the individual to perform a wide range of duties to include but not limited to the following: Perform installation, commissioning and maintenance of protective relaying equipment in high voltage substations and power plants. Commissioning, maintaining, testing, or repairing circuit breakers, transformers, or other substation equipment Perform functional testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breakers Perform end-to-end line relay testing Test relays to verify settings and logic equations are in accordance with design Troubleshooting of electrical related issues, including root cause analysis Modifying existing and installation of new AC/DC circuits in substations Knowledge of electrical systems, microprocessors and PLC's and experience in the use of computers to assist with troubleshooting and testing is beneficial. Must be able to obtain and maintain a class A commercial driver's license. This position will require work in inclement weather conditions, during outages and in emergency response situations.  Central provides a 401K savings investment plan, a voluntary 125 cafeteria plan, life insurance, 10 holidays a year, vacation and sick leave benefits.   • Central Electric Power Cooperative is currently seeking applications for the Switchman position. The successful candidate must live in the Moberly, Centralia, Hallsville, Harrisburg area. Individuals interested in this position should have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electrical Distribution Systems or Industrial Technology. Experience in power systems or electrical utility operations is a plus. Qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a class A commercial driver’s license. Job duties will include the regular maintenance and testing of electrical equipment inside substations and also helping both the Line and Substation crews as necessary. Individuals must be able to communicate clearly, work at heights, walk on uneven ground, climb ladders, be capable of occasionally lifting up to 100lbs and work in inclement weather conditions. In particular, the switchman position is subject to callouts 24/7 for outages and emergencies and can expect to work alone most of the time. Job training for this position will include a four-year apprenticeship program to include on-the-job training tasks.
