We’re excited to announce the upcoming opening of the Davis Center at the Harlem Meer—a $160 million investment in equity that will transform the northern end of Central Park. This project reflects the Central Park Conservancy’s more than 40-year commitment to ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to nature, recreation, and wellness. The Davis Center will feature a state-of-the-art ice rink, a larger-than-Olympic-size swimming pool, and new public spaces to serve the surrounding Harlem communities and beyond. This restoration, the largest in the Conservancy’s recent history, highlights the vital role of public spaces in fostering community and well-being.

How it’s going ➡️ How it started The Charles A. Dana Discovery Center opened its doors to the public on this day in 1993! Nestled on the shores of the Harlem Meer, this visitor center and plaza host beloved community events including the Harlem Meer Performance Festival, Pumpkin Flotilla, and Holiday Tree Lighting. ✨ The Dana Center first opened as part of a major restoration of the Harlem Meer and surrounding landscapes in the 1990s. Today, there are even more exciting things on the horizon as the Conservancy continues to partner with our friends and neighbors in Harlem.
