Jim was in hospice care for more than 6 weeks, but he wasn't alone. His sons were with him, and so was his dedicated Centrica Care Navigators team. Ron, Jim's son, says the team helped his family provide round-the-clock care for his dad. The team supported Ron and his brothers, teaching them how to offer compassionate end-of-life care, from changing Jim's sheets to giving medication. The team made after-hour deliveries and responded to Jim's needs. They made sure he always received the best care he could. While we all experience grief differently, no one has to go it alone. Centrica Care Navigator’s experienced team is here for you. All Centrica Grief Support groups are free and open to anyone in the community. They are led by licensed grief support counselors and trained volunteers. In a comfortable and accepting environment, you’ll find the support you need and meet others who are making a similar journey. A wide variety of services are also available for those who have had a loved one in our hospice program. Grief Connection is one of our ongoing drop-in grief support groups. This is an informal, adult drop-in group for those who've experienced the death of a loved one. This group welcomes people at all stages of their grief journey. It’s the holiday season. For many of us, that means big meals, gifts, family, and friends. For some of us, it also means reflection and grief, thinking of a loved one who has died. What once was joy and comfort during the holidays can now be a painful reminder that our special person is no longer with us. Centrica is here to help you in your journey with grief. Our Coping with the Holidays workshop is held once a year as a part of Centrica Grief Support at locations in Portage and Battle Creek. We will focus on coping strategies to navigate the holiday season after the death of a loved one. At a recent Journeys session, participants explored rituals and traditions that occur after someone we love has died. Participants borrowed from the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos and created their own Journeys ofrenda (altar).
