Registration is ending soon! Join us next Tuesday, September 10 for breakfast and presentation from Rob Labbe, Jr., CSP over #mentalhealth and #suicideprevention in the construction industry. https://lnkd.in/esFgJMZe Mental Health and Suicide in the Construction industry has been a long-avoided topic due to the historically macho mindset of many members of the construction industry. The construction industry is severely impacted by suicide. It is estimated that approximately 5,500 members of the construction industry die by suicide each year, which is over 5 times of workers that die by job related injuries and illnesses. The session will focus on ways to help those that are struggling with their mental health by exploring the many myths, facts, options, and resources available.

In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Week, Stefano Braganti, PE, SSM, founder of SafetyClerk, my colleague Maria Fernanda Molina, Alex Diaz, Ph.D., and I attended the CFMA New York City NYC roundtable on Mental Health & Suicide in the construction industry. Led by Rob Labbe, Jr., CSP, we learned the shocking statistic that the construction industry faces suicide rates 4 times higher than the national average. The demanding nature of the job – from tough working conditions to high pressure – plays a significant role. Rob's efforts, including his Hike for Hope campaign, are crucial in raising awareness and addressing these challenges.
