Washington Association of Money Managers (WAMM) is pleased to present an in-person program, “Finance and Politics: New Insights for 2024 and Beyond,” on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The reception will begin at 6:00 PM ET followed by the panel discussion at 6:30 PM ET. Heading into the final weeks of the U.S. presidential election campaign, investors are bracing for cross-asset market volatility in light of heightened macroeconomic and geopolitical concerns. However, investors who can cut through the noise and invest based on the business cycle, not the electoral outcomes, may be better positioned for continued success. Having said that, the election’s outcome does carry policy ramifications for investors and their money over the long term. What’s at stake for financial services, energy, healthcare, and tech industries, among others? What other areas bear watching for opportunities and risks? We are fortunate to have an all-star panel of seasoned industry experts to walk us through what a new administration could mean for investors: - Hugo Dante is a Financial Services Policy Analyst/Vice President at Washington Analysis, a CFRA Research business, where he focuses on financial services and housing policy. Prior to that, Hugo held a cross-functional role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as Market Insights & GTM Analyst for the International Financials and Digital Assets team. Before Amazon, Hugo served as an Economist for the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee and worked in the Office of the Chief Economist at the American Bankers Association. - Jeffrey T. Dinwoodie is a partner in the Financial Institutions Group at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. He previously served as Chief Counsel to the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and as Head of the Office of Financial Institutions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. - Ed Groshans is a Senior Research & Policy Analyst at Compass Point Research & Trading, LLC. His focus is on the #financialservices sector (#banks, #fintech, #cryptoassets, #capitalmarkets, #marijuana) while also covering a broad range of topics encompassing election cycles and outcomes, major legislative developments including antitrust, taxes, and trade. Prior to Compass, he was Managing Director at Height Analytics and a Desk Analyst at Ladenburg Thalmann covering the financial services sector. Tesla delivered its long-awaited robotaxi event Thursday night, giving investors new insight into the autonomous vehicle. CFRA Research analyst Garrett Nelson said the event leaves us with more questions than answers. "We were really disappointed by the lack of detail regarding their near-term and intermediate-term product roadmap," Nelson told Yahoo Finance. Nelson noted that there was no mention either of any developments in Tesla's other highly anticipated vehicles — the so-called Model 2 and the Roadster. "It was sort of like watching a movie with a lot of plot twists and special effects. And at the end, you're walking out kind of scratching your head," he said.
