Last Monday, we had the honor of meeting with Mary C. Daly, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. President Daly had previously joined us as a fireside chat speaker with Stanford University President Jon Levin at our 2021 State of Latino Entrepreneurship (SOLE) Summit at Stanford! During our Monday meeting, we shared some of our research findings. We discussed the challenges, often external, that Latina and Latino entrepreneurs face and the enormous opportunity they represent for the U.S. economy. On Sunday, I had the distinct opportunity to hang out with a selected group of Latino and Latina business owners at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business as part of their program with LBAN/Latino Business Action Network. On the stage, Manuel Oblitas of VND - vndx.com (self proclaimed hype man of LBAN) and Maria Jose Palacio of Progeny Coffee (fashion designer turned coffee entrepreneur) and I, shared our experience with the program. We discussed the challenges that we have faced as business owners trying to scale our companies in the times of the pandemic, accessing #capital and living our personal lives! This program is unlike any other in the country. These leaders are going to be attending online discussions, completing course work, while also running their businesses. Whether you are making empanadas, or driving diesel trucks, or creating the next big app or tech, this #community will be there when you need us. In nine weeks, these leaders will come back to the Stanford campus for their graduation and will become part of the LBAN alumni network, where more than one thousand of us will welcome them!
