Research-based, Equity-centered Strategies for Student Well-Being, Engagement, and Belonging

About us

Challenge Success is a non-profit affiliated with the Stanford Graduate School of Education. We partner with K-12 school communities to elevate student voice and implement research-based, equity-centered strategies that improve well-being, engagement, and belonging. Our vision is that educational systems value each student for their unique identities, assets, and individual definitions of success and effectively prepare them for the variety of opportunities and challenges they will encounter in school and beyond. Since 2003, we have partnered with over 700 schools nationwide and surveyed over 375,000 students. We work with ~45 secondary schools per year in our School Program, which offers timely and practical strategies in areas such as school climate, pedagogy, assessment, and school schedule. Multi-stakeholder teams progress through a series of phases designed to help garner buy-in from the community and generate sustainable solutions. Schools demonstrate positive impacts on students, including reduced stress, more balance, increased engagement, better teacher support, more sleep, less cheating, and an improved sense of belonging. Educators also report feeling better equipped to prioritize student well-being and implement student-centered practices.
