    Three Gen Z shopping trends Checkmate CEO Harry Dixon is seeing across their 1 million+ shoppers First of all, Checkmate is an app and browser extension that generates personalized deals based on who the shopper is across 100k online stores. Here's what Harry is seeing amongst Gen Z shoppers - Gen Z cares about the sustainability and environmental impact of your brand... until they don't. Although sustainability is one of the top considerations and values that Gen Z considers when purchasing, they are the largest consumer base of fast fashion amongst brands like Shein, Fashion Nova, Zara and countless others. - Impulse buying is rising. Gen Z has a dramatically shorter purchase consideration fueled by platforms like TikTok Shop where users go from first discovery to first purchase in one experience. - Mobile is everything. We all knew this but what's fascinating is that Gen Z is even making the majority of their high AOV high consideration purchases on mobile-only, a decision that most millennials take to desktop. Let's double click on why the first trend is so true. Fast fashion is cheap. Gen Zers are attracted to fast fashion because it's inexpensive AND they want to keep up with the latest trends. Fast fashion is also very hard to resist According to a ThredUp report, 45% of college students say it's hard to resist the temptation of fast fashion Honestly, I feel the same temptation with Zara and similar brands. The real question is the following.... As Gen Z is able to accumulate savings from more years in the workforce will they shift their spend away from fast fashion into net new sustainability focused brands?
